Husson University volleyball team opens their season today at the Hartwick Invitational. 2008 NAC Coach of the Year Pat Debeck will look to build on their first NAC regular season title a year ago. The Eagles finished undefeated in NAC play (6-0) and 13-9 overall in 2008.

Senior Marion Kish (Wallingford, CT) and sophomore Kaitlyn McKay (Lincoln, RI) return to the line-up, both were named 1st Team All-NAC in 2008. Kish led the team with 7.06 assist per game and 1.06 service aces per game while McKay led the team in kills with 2.56 per game. Senior Maya Uysokikh (Novoskbirsk, Russia) and sophomore Athena Beaulieu (Gorham, ME) also return averaging just over one kill per game in 2008.

The Eagles made back to back trips to the NAC final in 2007 and 2008. They look to return to the championship game with good experience and a desire to bring home a championship. The non-conference schedule features trips to tournaments at Hartwick, Colby, U. Mass. Dartmouth, and Eastern Nazarene.

The Eagles open Friday, September 4 against Plattsburg State at 4:00 pm and Hartwick at 8:00 pm. They play a third match on Saturday, September 5 against CCNY at 10:00 am. Husson will play their first home match on September 16 against U. Maine Machias at 6:30 pm. The match will be the first at Newman Gymnasium new “Center Court.”
