The Husson Eagles won their home opener against U. Maine Machias 3-1, (25-21, 25-20, 19-25, 25-12),  playing for the first time on the brand new Newman Gymnasium's Center court.

 Maya Vysokikh (Sr., Novoskbirsk, Russia) led the Eagles with 12 kills, 1 block, and two digs while hitting .290.  The Eagles hammered their way to victory with 9 aces by Hannah Olstad, (Fr., Farmington, NH) and 36 assists by Marion Kish (Sr., Wallingford, CT).   First year student Michelle Smith made key contributions with 2 kills and 8 digs while successfully transitioning from middle row to back row for the Eagles. 

U. Maine Machias' Robin Harrison (7 kills on 14 attempts) and Elisa Boyd paced the Mules but were no match for Husson.

Husson next plays on Saturday, September 19 against Castleton (10:00 P.M.) and Green Mountain (12:00).
