Women's Soccer Names Captains


Head Coach Keith Bosley has named his 2009 captains for the women's soccer team.  The four captains have been a part of three straight NAC Championships.  The 2009 captains are Shelby Bradford (Sr. Lee, ME), Caitlyn Butterfield (Jr. Gorham, ME), Amy Sanz (Sr. Tyngsboro, MA), and Kylan Smith (Sr. Presque Isle, ME). 

Bradford is a Lee Academy graduate completing her Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy.  She was named to the All-New England Region team last season for women's soccer.  Bradford is a starter in three different sports at Husson; soccer, basketball, and lacrosse.  She finished 11th in the country in scoring for women's soccer, she was named 1st Team CoSIDA Academic All-American in women's basketball, and finished 1st in NCAA III Women's Lacrosse in groundballs.    

Butterfield is a Gorham High School graduate and is working towards a Doctorial Degree in Physical Therapy.  She was named 1st Team All-NAC in 2008 and anchors a defense that had 10 shutouts last season.  The Eagles only allowed 2 goals in seven NAC games last season.

Sanz is studying Business Administration-Sports Management and graduated from Tyngsboro High School in Massachusetts.  She was a 2nd Team All-NAC performer a year ago as one of the top midfielders in the conference. 

Smith is Presque High School graduate and is also working towards a Doctorial Degree in Physical Therapy.  She is a steady and hard-working midfielder and a three year starter. 

The Eagles will host U. Southern Maine on Tuesday, September 1 at 4:00 pm.
