Husson Unable To Ward Off Beavers

Bangor, ME - In a battle between the number four and five teams in the NAC at the beginning of the day, Husson women's lacrosse fell to UMaine Farmington Wednesday afternoon 9-8. Husson scored four of the final five goals in the game, but came up short in their final regular season effort at home.

UMF jumped out to an early 5-1 lead with goals from Jaclyn Langevin, Ayla Allen twice and Mara Balboni twice as well.

The Eagles battled back after Hayley Thibeau's early goal, reeling off three straight between the final two minutes of the first half and the first minute of the second. Michaela Bicknell scored the second on her own, and fed Charlotte Gerhardy short-handed for the third to make it 5-3 at the half. Alissa Fallon added the fourth just :58 into period two.

The Beavers made it tough on Husson scoring three straight of their own over a three-and-a-half minute stretch shortly after the Eagles fourth goal. Rhi Jackson had goals seven and eight for UMF.

The Green and Gold hung tough in the final eight-plus minutes, receiving scores from Bicknell, Abi Staab via Kim Gambon, Gambon from Thibeau and Thibeau for a second time with just over two minutes left.

Husson was unable to mount another solid chance as UMF defended well and stalled in their own offensive zone in the waning moments.

Both squads are now 2-3 in the NAC and at the moment, it seems as though the two teams flip-flopped in the standings after Wednesday's game.
