Women’s Lacrosse Falls to Gordon College Despite Late Game Comeback Attempt
Bangor, ME – Husson women's lacrosse fell to non-conference opponent Gordon College 14-4 on Saturday afternoon at Boucher Field.
Gordon College scored 10 unanswered goals in the first half to stifle the Eagles, and answered again with 2 early goals in the second half to make it 12-0. The Fighting Scots came out quickly, testing first year goalie Kaitlin Dolloff (Richmond, RI), who ended the day with 6 saves.
The Eagles found their stride in the second half, staging a comeback attempt that fell short. Caitlyn Stauffer (Brookfield, CT) grabbed two of the Husson goals, Stauffer with 6 goals on the season inches closer to the 100-point milestone in her career.
Gordon (2-0) added two more goals in the second half to clinch the victory 14-4. Senior Kim Gambon (Walpole, MA) and first year Mattie Russell (Hope Valley, RI) added the other two goals for the Eagles.
Anna Blomberg grabbed 5 goals for Gordon, while teammates Stephanie Fitzgerald picked up 4 goals, 1 assist, and Jessica Castelline picked up 3 goals and 2 assists.
Gordon goalies Danielle Maguire and ulianne Kirkpatrick shared time in net, combining for 7 saves on the afternoon.
The Eagles (0-2) will head to Johnson and Wales this Monday, March 10th for a 4:00 PM game time.
