Women’s Lacrosse Ends Regular Season with a Loss
Bangor, ME – Husson women's lacrosse fell to North Atlantic Conference opponent Thomas College, Wednesday afternoon, 18-10 at Boucher Field.
The Eagles hung with the Terriers for the majority of the first half, entering the half 6-6. Caitlyn Stauffer (Brookfield, CT) scored 5 goals in the first half to put the Eagles within reach.
The Terriers scored 6 unanswered goals to make the score 12-6 early in the second half. Amanda Mora (Stratford, CT) and Michaela Bicknell (West Addison, VT) scored back to back for the Eagles to close the Thomas lead to 12-8. The Terriers countered with 6 more goals of their own to extend the lead to 18-8.
Anna Wolterbeek (Wells, ME) had a strong performance for the Eagles scoring a goal in the final 4 minutes of the game and having 2 assists. Stauffer scored the last goal for the Eagles, ending the afternoon with 6 goals. The Eagles won more draw controls, had fewer turnovers and picked up more ground balls.
"We started stronger than ever in the first half today. We showed poise and patience on attack. We are really starting to come together and play the best lacrosse we can at the right time of the year," said Head Coach Jen Johnstone, "Caitlyn Stauffer was on fire on attack, she was relentless."
Miranda Tinsman led the way for Thomas scoring 7 goals on 8 shots.
Chelsea Kondratowicz (Kingston, NY) had 8 saves in net for the Eagles while Brittany Knox had 6 saves on 10 goals allowed.
Husson completes their 2013 Regular Season at 3-9 overall and 1-5 in the NAC.
