WATERVILLE, Maine—On a rain soaked Alumni Field, Husson University was able to come away with the 17-4 victory over Thomas College on Tuesday afternoon in a North Atlantic Conference Women’s Lacrosse match up. The visiting Eagles would outshoot the Terriers by a margin of 44-15 to take the win.

Tammy Arsenault (So. Gorham, ME) scored the first goal for the Eagles just 1:07 into the game, giving the visitors the early lead. Thomas’ Megan Denby (So. Copiague, NY) would answer several minutes later by putting a shot in the back of the net to square the game away. Denby would add a second goal with 17:46 remaining in the half to give the Terriers the 2-1 edge.

In the next three minutes, Husson would roll off five straight goals with Caitlyn Butterfield (So. Gorham, ME) and Jami Ladd (Fr. Berlin, VT) each contributing two goals while Caitlin Ramsey (So. Berlin, NH) would add the fifth. Denby would add her third goal of the game at the 5:10 mark, bringing the Terriers deficit to 6-3. Husson would score three more times before the end of the half, with Kaylee Godan (So. Old Orchard Beach, ME) scoring two and Ramsey adding her second of the half.

The Eagles started the second half similarly to the first, with Godan scoring a goal just 1:02 into play. Butterfield and Ladd added the next two goals for the visitors, before Tanya Berry (Fr. South Paris, ME) would add a goal for the Terriers, putting the score to 12-4 in Husson’s advantage.

Husson would finish off the game with another five goal streak, including two from Shelby Bradford (Jr. Lee, ME) and one goal a piece by Ashley Cyr (So. Madawaska, ME), Rebecca Hatin (Jr. Jeffersonville, VT), and Ramsey.

Ladd, Godan, Butterfield and Ramsey would provide most of the scoring for the Eagles, with each of them putting three in the back of the net on the day. Denby led Thomas with three goals, with Kidd picking up the fourth goal.

Nicole Foss (Fr. Addison, ME) would block away 16 shots on the day for the Terriers, while Nikki Burns (So. South Berwick, ME) and Arsenault would turn away 8 shots combined.

The Terriers continue their NAC schedule on April 23 when they travel to face the University of Maine at Farmington, which has a 4:00 pm start time. The Eagles will travel to Castleton State on Sunday, April 26th for the NAC Championship.
