Women's Lacrosse Earns First Victory


 

Bangor, ME - The Husson University Women's Lacrosse team earned their first victory in school history as they defeated Regis College on Saturday, 19-9.  The Eagles outscored the Pride 13 to 4 in the second half as they cruised to their first win.

Jami Ladd (Fy. Berlin, VT) scored right off the bat for Husson, as the Eagles took a 1-0 lead 29 seconds into the contest.  The Pride would answer right back by scoring the next two goals.  The rest of the first half was back and forth as the Eagles took a slim 6-5 lead into half time. 

In the second half is when the Eagles took over.  Husson held Regis scoreless for the first 19 minutes of the second half, as Husson would score eight goals during that span to take a 14-6 lead.  The Eagles would continue to build their lead as they won 19-9.

The Eagles were led by Shelby Bradford (Jr. Lee, ME) who had five goals and one assist.  Ashley Cyr (So. Madawaska, ME), Ladd and Caitlyn Butterfield (So. Gorham, ME) would score three goals apiece.  Goalie Nikki Burns (So. South Berwick, ME) would make six saves on 14 shots.  The Pride was led by Allison Curran (So. Norwood, MA) who had four goals and Desiree Cyr (Sr. Limington, ME) who scored three.  Goalie Maria Pino (Jr. Revere, MA) made 12 saves on 47 shots.
