Bradford Chosen as MWBCA Player of the Year

Husson University senior forward Shelby Bradford has been chosen as the Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) Player of the Year, while Curran Leighton from the University of Southern Maine has been selected as the Rookie of the Year and Lori Gear-McBride from Colby College was picked as the Coach of the Year. WATERVILLE, Maine --- The Husson University Eagles fell to the Colby Mules 62-59 in the Division III NCAA tournament at Colby’s Wadsworth Gymnasium. The Eagles end their historic season with a perfect 16-0 North Atlantic Conference run culminating in an NAC Championship and an overall record of 19-9. [read more]

Colby (23-4) lost to Amherst College in their conference championship but received an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament. Husson (19-8) won their last 16 games, culminating in a North Atlantic Championship and automatic qualification to the NCAA tournament. Bangor, ME - Husson University defeated Castleton 80-69 in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) championship to clinch their first ever NAC title. The Eagles ran the table in the conference, remaining unbeaten with a 14-0 regular season and two tournament wins. The rematch of last year’s NAC Championship game between Husson and Castleton ended with a different outcome as the Eagles emerged victorious this year, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. As the NAC runner-up, Castleton ends their season 17-11. [read more]
