Coach Walker Announces Recruiting Class for 2009

Head Coach Kissy Walker has announced her recruiting class for 2009. Six student athletes have been accepted, paid a tuition deposit and have verbally committed for next season. The Eagles have 13 student athletes returning next season led by Shelby Bradford (Jr, Lee, ME).
Heading the recruiting class is 2008 Lee Academy graduate Amanda Gifford (Lee, ME). Gifford will transfer from Bates College where she played in 23 games, starting in 10, averaging 2.9 points and 1.3 rebounds. She was a part of three state championship teams while at Lee and was a 2008 finalist for Miss Maine Basketball. Gifford will also play soccer at Husson.
Erica Lyford guided Penquis High School to a 12-6 mark on her way to being named Bangor Daily News 3rd Team All-State. She averaged 19.2 points and 13 rebounds. Lyford scored 1000 points in her career.
Amy Skillings from Halldale High School will join the Eagles. Skilling averaged 11 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists, while leading Halldale to a 12-6 record in Western Maine Class C. She was a Bangor Daily News All-State Honorable Mention selection (2009) and was named to the Western Maine McDonalds C/D All-Star team.
Shelby Searles from Lubec High School averaged 24.3 points per game pacing LHS to a 12-6 record. She was named to the 2009 All-Tournament team. Searles scored 832 points during her junior and senior seasons and has a career game high of 47 points.
Kelli Murray helped lead the Lawrence Bulldogs to a 12-6 records while averaging 12.1 points and 5.2 rebounds. Murray was named 1st team All-KVAC (2009) and selected to play on the Eastern Maine McDonalds A/B All-Star team.
Hermon High School's Katie Durgin will bring her all around game to Husson. She averaged 10 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, and 4 steals per game. Durgin was one of the top defenders in the Big East.
