Coach Walker Announces Recruiting Class for 2009
Head Coach Kissy Walker has announced her recruiting class for 2009. Six student athletes have been accepted, paid a tuition deposit and have verbally committed for next season.

Husson University will play host to the 21st McDonald’s All-Star games. The games will be played at Newman Gym on Saturday, March 14th.

Castleton Knocks Off Eagles
BANGOR, ME—Third seeded Castleton State College Women’s Basketball Team (17-11/11-5NAC) rode the three point shooting of Mary Nienow (#11) to a 63-57 NAC Championship victory over first seed Husson University. The Spartan’s win assures them participation in the NCAA DIII National Tournament. Seeding will be announced Monday March 2, 2009

BANGOR, ME—Top seeded Husson University Women’s Basketball Team used their depth to pull way from #4 Green Mountain Eagles to a 79-60 NAC semifinal win at Newman Gym on the Husson campus.

Bradford, Hanscom, and Walker Take Home NAC Awards
Husson’s Shelby Bradford was selected as the North Atlantic Conference Player of the Year in a vote by the league's coaches. The junior forward, recently named a District 1 College Division Academic All-American, pulled down a leagueleading 12.7 rebounds and scored 16.6 points as Husson earned the top seed in the upcoming NAC Women’s Basketball tournament. Bradford was one of three women to repeat as first team all-conference selections.

Eagles Win at Castleton 81-66
Castleton, VT - The Castleton State College women’s basketball team led by as many as 12 in the first half, but could not stop a balanced Husson University attack in the second half, falling 81-66 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action at Glenbrook Gymnasium Friday evening.

Bradford Scores her 1000th Career Point
Bangor, Maine – The Eagles won their 10th straight with a 91-71 win over Lyndon State in NAC contest at Newman Gym. Shelby Bradford (Jr, Lee) scored her 1000th career point on her way to 26 points and 14 rebounds. She recorded a score record 15th double double on the season. Husson honored their two seniors prior to the start of the game; Laura Archer (Ellsworth, ME), Jenny Rollins (Corinth, ME) and Michelle Barden (Newport, ME)

Bangor, Maine – The Eagles won their 9th straight game with a 67-53 win over Johnson State in NAC action at Newman Gym. Bree Hanscom (FY, Mattawamkeag, ME) led Husson with 22 points and 7 rebounds.

Bangor, Maine – Husson battled their way to a 66-57 win over NAC rival Maine Maritime Academy at Newman Gym. Shelby Bradford (Jr, Lee, ME) recorded her 14th double double on the season to pace the Eagles, with 18 points and 15 rebounds.

Hanscom Gains NEWBA and NAC Awards
Bree Hanscom (FY, Mattawamkeag, ME) was named New England Women’s Basketball Association Rookie of the Week and NAC Player of the Week. Hanscom paced the Eagles to a 2-0 week with the two wins. The Eagles now sit atop the NAC standings at 8-1 (12-7 overall). Husson has won 6 straight and 9 out of their last 10 games.

Eagles Win 6th Straight
WATERVILLE, Maine—Thomas College’s women’s basketball team welcomed the Husson University Eagles into Larry Mahaney Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon for Senior Day, where the Terriers would drop a North Atlantic Conference Matchup by a score of 87-75. Thomas’ seniors that were recognized before the game were Amy Miles (Waldo, ME) and Kristy Clements (Monroe, ME).

Junior captain Shelby Bradford (Lee, ME) has been named Academic All-American 1st Team – District 1 College Division. CoSIDA selected Bradford to the team and the award is sponsored by ESPN The Magazine.

Bradford Named MWBCA Player of the Week
Shelby Bradford (Jr, Lee, ME) was named Maine Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Player of the Week. Bradford averaged 21 points and 14.3 rebounds and 3.3 assists in a 2-1 week for the Eagles. Bradford also shot 48% from the field (19-40) and made 25 of 28 from the foul line (89%) in her three games this week.

GORHAM, Maine – Senior forward Stacey Kent (Northwood, N.H./Coe-Brown Academy) scored a game-high 21 points to lead a balanced attack as the nationally-ranked University of Southern Maine Huskies placed four players in double-figures en route to a 81-64 win over the Husson University Eagles in a non-conference women’s basketball game Monday night at Hill Gymnasium in Gorham, Maine.
