Head softball coach Amanda Davey took over the helm of the Husson
University Softball program in January 2007. The team
finished with a 13-21 record overall. However, after some heavy
recruiting and rebuilding, the Eagles softball team emerged in 2008
as one of the top teams in the North Atlantic Conference.
With an overall record of 30-12 in 2008, the Eagles had one of the most successful seasons in the programs history. Finishing 17-3 in conference play gained them the top seed in the NAC tournament. The green and gold offense was more powerful than ever hitting .332 as a team and leading the conference in numerous offensive categories, including slugging percentage (.480), hits (387), doubles (69), homeruns (21) and total bases (547). Davey coached six players who earned all-conference honors, as well as earning Coach of the Year honors from the North Atlantic Conference herself. Despite losing two seniors to graduation, the 2009 rendition of the Eagles will look to get back to the NAC Tournament and continue to build upon the program’s success.
Coach Davey began her collegiate coaching career in 2004 as a graduate assistant at Division II, Wayne State College in Nebraska. While at WSC, Davey worked primarily with pitchers and catchers, while also assisting in practice planning, conditioning of athletes, game management, and recruiting. During her second season Davey was named the interim head coach and took the team to the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Tournament. While serving as a G.A at Wayne State, she worked on her Master’s in Business Administration degree, which she completed in 2006.
In addition to coaching duties, Davey teaches classes at Husson in the School of Business department.
A native of Brampton, Ontario, Coach Davey graduated from St. Bonaventure University in 2003 with a Bachelor's Degree in Management-Science. During her career at SBU, Davey was a three year starting catcher for the Bonnies. Prior to St. Bonaventure, Davey played her freshman season at Canisius College in Buffalo, NY, before transferring in 2001.
Coach Davey resides in Bangor, Maine.
