Lyndon Center, VT -The Husson softball team ran its North Atlantic Conference mark to 7-1 Saturday with a doubleheader sweep of Lyndon at Skip Pound Field. The Eagles won Game one 14-0 in five innings before taking Game two 10-0 in six innings.
In the opener, Husson plated a run in the top of the first on a run-scoring single by Brianna Webster. One inning later, the Eagles blew the game open by scoring six runs on five hits. Webster's two-run double in the frame was the big blow and Victoria Overlock and Deb Colpitts each chipped in an RBI triple.
Aimee Mortensen had three hits to lead Husson (19-8) and Kody Lyons went four innings to get the win. She allowed no runs on one hit while striking out four and walking none.
Ashley Barski had the lone Hornet hit in the contest - a first inning single - and Meghan Gadapee took the loss. She allowed 11 earned runs on 15 hits while fanning none and walking three.
In the nightcap, the Eagles tallied four runs in the fifth and four more in the six to coast to victory. Webster's three-run double in the fifth and Haley Spiers' two-run single in the sixth propelled Husson on to its 19th win of the season.
Chelsea Brennan and Nicole Sargent had three hits for the Eagles and Becca McCarty went five innings to get the win. She allowed only one hit while striking out eight and walking none.
Jen Lynch and Autumn Thompson had one hit each for Lyndon (9-17, 1-7) and Katie Davis took the loss. She allowed nine earned runs on 14 hits while fanning two and walking two.
