Cameron Named NAC Player of the Year; Mortensen Named Rookie of the Year

Bangor, ME- Sophomore outfielder Dottie Cameron (Jr., South Plainfield, NJ) of Husson University was selected as the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Softball Player of the Year and Aimee Mortensen (Fy., Biddeford, ME) was selected as the NAC Rookie of the Year in a vote by the conference coaches.

Cameron was among the league leaders in numerous statistical categories including batting average (.509), slugging percentage (.709), on base percentage (.517) and RBI (17) while scoring a league leading 20 runs with nine stolen bases as the Husson Eagles went undefeated in conference play.

Teammate Aimee Mortensen (Fy., Biddeford, ME) was honored as the NAC Softball Rookie of the Year. The freshman third baseman hit .500 in conference games with a .558 on base percentage while scoring 13 runs and driving in 15 leading Husson to the top seed in the upcoming NAC Softball Tournament.

A total of 5 Eagles were honored with NAC All-Conference Team Selections.  Dorothy Cameron, Amiee Mortensen, Nicole Sargent (Jr., Sullivan, ME), Brianna Webster (So., Belfast, ME), and Megan Richard (Jr., Wilton, ME) received recognition. 

The Husson University Eagles will host the NAC Championship at Husson’s O’Keefe field tomorrow, April, 30.  The first game will start at 10:00am when the Eagles play the winner of the Castleton State and Thomas College game.
