Softball Rolls to 12 Straight Wins

This week the Eagles look to close in on their second consecutive regular season NAC Title under the direction of third year head coach Amanda Davey. Winners of 12 straight, the Eagles are rolling as they head into the home stretch of their schedule.
Last week, Husson was 6-0 outscoring their opponents 56-8. As a team, the Eagles hit .344 in six games last week. Sophomore Cassie Berry (Jr, Newcastle, ME) paced Husson hitting .526 (10-19) with 2 2B and 2 HR. She also scored 8 runs, drove in 7 RBIs, and stole 4 bases. Berry was named NAC Player of the Week.
Pitching and defense has also been solid for the Eagles. Last week, the pitching staff of Caitlyn LaBorgne (So, Scarborough, ME), Nicole Sargent (So, Sullivan, ME), and Megan Richards (So, Wilton, ME) threw 34 innings giving up only 6 earned runs (1.23 ERA) while striking out 43 and walking only 8. NAC Pitcher of the Week, LaBorgne lead the way with two wins throwing 10 scoreless innings striking out 13 with no walks. The Eagles defense committed only 4 errors in 6 games last week.
"We are playing solid softball and look to continue building momentum into the end of the season." States Head Coach Amanda Davey. "We want to host the NAC playoff again this year and compete for our first trip to the NCAA's.
Husson plays every day over the next five days. They will host MMA on Wednesday, April 22 at 3:00 pm in a NAC doubleheader. They will make-up their game scheduled for today at Colby on Thursday, April 23 at 4:30. Then travel to UMF for a non-conference doubleheader on Friday, April 24 at 3:00 pm before hosting two NAC doubleheaders over the weekend. Lyndon State comes in on Saturday, April 26 at 1:00 pm while Johnson comes in on Sunday, April 27 at 12:00 pm.
