Softball Soars in 2009


The Eagles capped off a great year with a NAC title and a trip to the NCAA New England Regional.  They finished the year undefeated in NAC play going 14-0 during the regular season and sweeping the NAC Tournament in three games. 

Over the past two season, the Eagles are 56-28 overall and 31-3 in NAC play.  They have won back to back regular season titles capturing their first tournament crown this spring.  The roster features 14 returning players including all 8 position starters and the top three pitchers.

Four Eagles were named to the 1st team All-NAC; Dorothy Cameron (So, South Plainfield, NJ) lead the team in batting at .410, Nicole Sargent (So, Sullivan, ME) lead the team in wins at 13-6 and batted .333 on the year, Megan Bradstreet (Fy, Warren, ME) lead the team with 4 3B and batted .296, and Sarah Risser (Fy, Brewer, ME) led the team in stolen bases with 13 and batted .296.      

Cassie Berry (Jr, Newcastle, ME) was 2nd on the team in hitting at .359 along with Megan Richards (So, Wilton, ME) led the team with a 4.81 ERA, both were named to the 2nd team All-NAC.   Head Coach Amanda Davey was named NAC Coach of the Year for the 2nd straight year. 

Sargent was named Most Valuable Player for the NAC Tournament.  Berry and Cameron were named to the All-Tournament team. 

The Eagles played #1 seed in the New England Regional Tufts University losing 17-1.  They battled host Endicott College in an elimination game losing 11-6.  The Eagles finished the season at 26-16.
