Eagles Win in Overtime

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore forward Tyler Metevier
(Kittery, ME) scored with 27 seconds remaining in the second half
to send the game into overtime and senior forward Mark Trombley
(Burnham, ME) put in the game winner, as Husson came from behind to
beat Westfield State, 4-3 in the consolation match of the Soccer
City Shootout on Sunday (Sept. 6) at Suprenant Field.
Westfield State (0-2-1) jumped out to a 2-0 advantage in the first
half as sophomore midfielder Tim Parsons (Buzzards Bay, MA) scored
at the 15:14 mark then two minutes later assisted the next goal put
in by sophomore forward Josh Severns (Suffield, CT).
Husson (1-2) quickly cut the lead in half on a Metevier (three
goals) score, but then Severns tallied his second goal of the
afternoon 17 seconds later to give the Owls a 3-1 lead. Freshman
midfielder Jared Spicer (Carver, MA) got credit for the assist.
The Eagles held Westfield scoreless in the second frame and chipped
away scoring the last three goals of the contest.
Freshman forward Marshall Davis (Patten, ME) and senior midfielder
Justin Gauvin (Woolwich, ME) each had an assist for Husson, and
junior Miguel Dominguez (Rome, GA) tallied 10 saves.
Senior goalie, Lucas Dexter (Acushnet, MA) finished with 10 saves
for the Owls who remain winless this season.
