Husson Downed By Williams in NCAA Tournament
TROY, N.Y. – Husson University fell to the sixth-ranked Williams College 3-0 in the NCAA Tournament this afternoon at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). Williams scored three second-half goals to claim the win and will play RPI tomorrow. Husson ends their season 10-9-2 and earned their first NAC tournament championship and NCAA tournament appearance.

Husson University to Play Williams In NCAA Tournament
The Husson Universiy Men's Soccer Team will play against Williams College in the NCAA Tournament on Saturday, November 14. The game will take place at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) . Game time is set for 11:00. The winner will advance to the NCAA Regional Final at 1:00 on Sunday.

Husson Defeats Castleton 3-1 to Win the NAC Championship
Bangor, ME - Husson University defeated Castleton State College 3-1 to claim the 2009 North Atlantic Conference Men’s Soccer Championship. With the win, Husson will advance the NCAA tournament. Castleton ends their season with a record of 10-7-3 as the NAC Runner Up.

NAC Coaches Select Five Eagles to Men’s Soccer All-Conference Team
Husson University placed five student-athletes on the North Atlantic Conference Men’s Soccer team. Edwin Acosta (So., Honduras), Justin Gauvin, (Sr., Woolwich, ME) and Mark Trombley (Sr., Burnham, ME) were named to the NAC First Team All0Conference. John DeStefano (Fy., Auburn, ME) and Alex Martin (So., Van Buren, ME) were named to the NAC Second Team All-Conference.

Edwin Acosta Named NAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week
Edwin Acosta (So., Honduras) factored into both of Husson's goals in their 2-0 NAC Semifinal win over Maine Maritime. Acosta scored the game's first goal off a penalty kick that hit the center-left portion of the Mariners' goal. Acosta also provided an assist on Husson's second and final goal of the day by slotting a ball to an open forward.

Top-Seed Husson Advances to Host NAC Men's Soccer Championship
Bangor, ME – Husson University defeated Maine Maritime Academy 2-0 to advance to the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) championship game. With the win, Husson improves to 9-8-2 on the season and will host Castleton State in the NAC Championship game on November 7.

Eagles Finish Atop North Atlantic Conference, Host Semifinal Nov. 1
After finishing conference play with an unbeaten 5-0-2 mark, Husson University earned the top seed in the upcoming North Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Championship (NAC). The Eagles (8-8-2 overall) earned a first round bye and will host a semifinal contest on Sunday, November 1 at Boucher Field. Kickoff is set for 1:00. Husson boasts a 24-4-2 record in NAC play over the last four years.

Bangor, ME – Husson University’s 6-0 win over the University of Maine at Farmington ensures that the Eagles will finish in first place in the North Atlantic Conference. With the win, the Eagles improve to 8-8-2 (5-0-2 conf.).

Mason Smith Named North Atlantic Conference Rookie of the Week
Mason Smith (Fy., Houma, LA) was named North Atlantic Conference rookie of the week. Smith started his first two complete games in goal for the Eagles this weekend allowing one goal on nine shots. The first-year student also recorded his first shutout against Lyndon State. Smith is a Physical Therapy major.

Mark Trombley Named North Atlantic Conference Player of the Week
Mark Trombley (Sr., Burnham, ME) paced the Eagles in this weekend's conference play scoring both goals in Husson's 2-0 win over Johnson State and providing an assist in Husson's 2-0 victory against Lyndon State. Trombly leads the Eagles with 7 goals and 6 assists on the season. Trombley is a Business Administration/Sports Management Major.

Bangor, ME – Husson Universtiy Men’s Soccer defeated Johnson State 2-1 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play. With the win, Husson remains ranked first in the NAC with a record of 7-8-2 and Johnson State falls to 6-6-1.

Bangor, ME – The Husson University Eagles soccer beat the Lyndon State Hornets 2-0 in a conference match-up on Husson’s Homecoming Weekend. With the win, the Eagles remain atop the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) rankings and improve to 6-8-2 (3-0-2 conf.) Lyndon State falls to 3-9-3 (0-4-1 conf).

Poultney, VT - A Green Mountain own-goal in the 19th minute proved to be enough as the visiting Husson University Eagles picked up North Atlantic Conference victory Saturday afternoon on a rain soaked pitch. Husson improves to 5-8-1 (2-0-1, NAC) while GMC remains winless at 0-9-1.

Eagles No Match For Polar Bears
BRUNSWICK, Maine - Five different Polar Bears scored as the Bowdoin College men's soccer team blanked Husson on Tuesday afternoon, 6-0. The Polar Bears are ranked seventh in New England in the latest NSCAA Regional poll. Husson falls to 4-8-1 with their third loss in their last four games.

NORTON, MA- The Wheaton College men's soccer team earned a 3-0 victory on Sunday against Husson University on Keefe Field. The Lyons, who are ranked 13th nationally and second in New England by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), improved to 11-2-1. The Eagles are 4-7-1.

Husson Edges Maine Maritime 2-1 in Double Overtime
Castine, Maine – The Husson Eagles won a hard fought contest, winning 2-1 in double overtime to the Maine Maritime Mariniers on Friday night in a North Atlantic Conference match-up. Sophomore Edwin Acosta (Honduras) scored off of a deflection by the MMA keeper in the 108th minute to give the Eagles the victory.

Bangor, ME – The Husson Eagles could not surmount an early Plymouth State Panther lead losing 1-2. The Panthers notched both of their goals in the first half. Semir Mehmedovic Sr., Zvornik, Bosnia) factored into both first half goals with a goal and an assist.

Eagles, Terriers Remain Tied After 110 Minutes of Soccer
Bangor, ME - The Husson Eagles and Thomas Terriers left the pitch with a 1-1 tie after double overtime. Scoring midway through the first half, Thomas’ Andrew Pelletier (Jr. Topsham, ME) ran onto a free ball and slotted it across the field to Timothy Costa (Sr., Pelham, NH) who was waiting at the top of the keeper box. Costa beat Husson goalkeeper Miguel Dominguez (Rome, GA) with a low shot to the far right post.

Edwin Acosta (So., Honduras) scored the game winning goal against Bates 5:05 minutes into overtime for a 4-3 Husson win. From near the left baseline and at a tight angle, Acosta kicked a left-footed volley from 20 yards away that cleared the reach of Bates' goalie and tumbled inside the far right post.

From near the left baseline and at a tight angle, Edwin Acosta (So., Honduras) kicked a left-footed volley from 20 yards away that cleared the reach of Bates goalie Greg Watts and tumbled inside the far right post. It was the first meeting between the two Maine teams since 1998.

Bangor, Maine – Berry College scored two late goals to defeat Husson University 3-2 at John Boucher Field. Berry scored two goals in the last 5 minutes to rally for the win. Mike Davis (So., Manchester, England) scored two goals to pace Berry.

Husson was chosen to finish second in the NAC preseason poll in a vote conducted by the league's coaches. The Eagles were just three points shy of Castleton, the preseason favorite to win the NAC men's soccer title.

The Husson men’s soccer team put constant pressure on the U. Maine Machias for a 2-0 victory. The Eagles outshot the Clippers 37-5 on their way to the win.

Eagles Lose To Monks
STANDISH, ME – Saint Joseph’s improved to 3-2-1 overall with a 3-1 victory over Husson University (1-3) on Sunday afternoon at Westerlea Way Field. Doug MacCallum ’10 (Hingham, MA) scored two goals and Will Pike ’10 (Gorham, ME) made eight saves in the SJC triumph.

Eagles Win in Overtime
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – Sophomore forward Tyler Metevier (Kittery, ME) scored with 27 seconds remaining in the second half to send the game into overtime and senior forward Mark Trombley (Burnham, ME) put in the game winner, as Husson came from behind to beat Westfield State, 4-3 in the consolation match of the Soccer City Shootout on Sunday (Sept. 6) at Suprenant Field.

Fort Kent, Maine – The Eagles opened their season with a loss to University of Maine at Fort Kent 4-0 on Alumni Memorial Field. U. Maine Fort Kent ranked #8 in the NAIA Pre-season Poll got 2 goals from sophomore Keith Williams II (Trinidad & Tobago) and 3 assists off the foot of Emlyn Jacoby (Sr., Johannesburg, S. Africa) for their first win of the season.

Husson University Head Coach Seth Brown has named captains for the 2009 men’s soccer team. The three seniors are from the state of Maine; Billy Shannon (Newburg, ME), Justin Gauvin (Brunswick, ME), and Mark Trombley (Burnham, ME).

Eagles Prepare for 2009
Husson University men’s soccer program captured their first NAC regular season title in 2008 and will look to take the next step as they enter the 2009 campaign. 2008 NAC Coach of the Year Seth Brown returns to the sideline for his fourth season. The Eagles were 11-7-1 a year ago and a perfect 7-0 in the North Atlantic Conference.

Fall Athletes Arrive On Campus
The athletic fields will come alive as pre-season camp begins this week at Husson University as four sports report for the fall. Football, Women’s Soccer, Men’s Soccer, and Volleyball get under way this week. Student-athletes will move into the dorms and begin receiving physicals starting on Tuesday, August 18th with practices starting later this week.
