Persistant Eagles Earn a Victory over Clippers

The Husson men's soccer team put constant pressure on the U. Maine Machias for a 2-0 victory.  The Eagles outshot the Clippers 37-5 on their way to the win.  Tyler Metevier (So., Kittery, ME) factored in both goals with a goal and an assist.

Husson played numerous crosses in front of the net but could not get one past Clipper goalie Kyle Lancaster (Jr., Richmond, ME).  Mark Trombley, (Sr., Burnham, ME), was taken down in the box at 22:27 resulting in a penalty kick.  Lancaster kept the game scoreless by making a diving save to his left off Trombley's PK.

After a 0-0 game at half, the Eagles went back to work.  Continuing to put pressure on Lancaster they broke through with two goals one minute apart.  Metevier scored the first goal at 64:56 off an assist by Trombley.  Metevier made a beautiful pass to Edwin Acosta (So., Honduras) to put Husson up 2-0.

Lancaster finished with 14 saves while Husson goalie Miguel Dominguez (Jr., Rome, GA) had 2 saves and was replaced by Joey Kane (Sr., Bradford, ME) with 11:24 left in the game.

Husson will host Barry College on Saturday, September 19 at 1:00 pm.
