Eagles, Terriers Remain Tied After 110 Minutes of Soccer

Bangor, ME - The Husson Eagles and Thomas Terriers left the pitch with a 1-1 tie after double overtime.  Scoring midway through the first half, Thomas' Andrew Pelletier (Jr. Topsham, ME) ran onto a free ball and slotted it across the field to Timothy Costa (Sr., Pelham, NH) who was waiting at the top of the keeper box.  Costa beat Husson goalkeeper Miguel Dominguez (Rome, GA) with a low shot to the far right post.

The Eagles had numerous scoring chances off of crosses throughout the first half but nothing materialized until Mark Trombly (Sr., Burnham, ME) scored with just under two minutes left in the half.  Husson's Gavin Madden (Fy., Manchester, NH) passed to Rob Cowart (Jr., Rome, GA) who flicked the ball to Trombly.  Trombly put the ball in the back of the net to tie the game.

The story of the second half was back and forth play interrupted by penalties.  Terrier goalkeeper James Liebowitz made a tremendous save coming off his line to shut down a Gaven Madden breakaway.

Following a scoreless second half, Miguel Dominguez kept the Eagles alive in overtime with a diving save to his right off a Thomas corner by Kevin White (So., Winterport, ME).  At the 103 minute mark during the second overtime, Husson was awarded a penalty shot.   Husson's Tyler Metevier hit a heavy ball to the right of Terrier keeper, Liebowitz, who made the save.  Neither team was able to find the back of the net and the game ended in a 1-1 tie.

Husson returns to action at home on Sunday, September 27, against Plymouth State.  Game time is set for 12:00.
