Top-Seed Husson Advances to Host NAC Men's Soccer Championship

Bangor, ME - Husson University defeated Maine Maritime Academy 2-0 to advance to the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) championship game.  With the win, Husson improves to 9-8-2 on the season and will host Castleton State in the NAC Championship game on November 7.

Husson scored the game's first goal 23:44 into the second half when Mark Trombley (Sr., Burnham, ME) was taken down in the Mariners  box resulting in a penalty kick.  Edwin Acosta (So., Honduras) took a center-left shot on goal to bring the score to 1-0.

Late in the first half, Mariners goalkeeper, Jeff Butland (Jr., Cumberland, ME), made a huge diving save to his right off a Taylor Wentworth (Fy., Ellsworth, ME) shot to keep the game 1-0 at the half.

Husson's Tyler Metevier (So., Kittery, ME)  scored the game winner 12:14 into the second half.  Metevier received an assist from Edwin Acosta (So., Honduras) thirty yards from the goal and beat a defender, carried the ball toward the 18 yard line and scored off a shot that glanced under the crossbar and into the Mariners' goal bringing the final score to 2-0.

Main Maritime goalkeeper Jeff Butland tallied 7 saves on 20 shots while Husson's Miguel Dominguez (Jr., Rome, GA) tallied 6 saves on 11 shots.
