Newburgh, NY – Husson battled back from a 4-0 deficit in the first quarter to close the lead to just two goals, but Mount Saint Mary proved to be too much defeating the Eagles 9-7.
Brandon Corbo (Merrimack, NH) and Dillon Shaw (Augusta, ME) both had 2 goals on 6 shots for the Eagles. Nolan Brown (Waterford, CT), Vinny Visconti (North Andover, MA), and Chris Pelletier (Rome, ME) also added goals for Husson. Mitch Heaps (York, PA) and Corbo had assists, while four Eagles had a game high 5 ground balls; Heaps, goalie John Hooper III (Wakefield, RI), Matt Tabler (Cantonsville, MD), and James Seager (Gilford, NH).
Husson lead most major statistical categories with 41 ground balls, and only 25 turnovers to the Knights 27. Each team had 33 shots, while the Knights caused 10 turnovers, and the Eagles caused 9.
The Eagles came back in the final 4 minutes, scoring back to back goals to close the lead to 9-7, but their efforts were not enough to overcome the early lead established by Mount Saint Mary.
Matt O'Donnell had 4 goals for the Knights, while Nick Findlay and Jake Robinson both had 2 goals. Findlay lead the team with 6 ground balls.
Hooper III had 10 saves on the night, while Mount Saint Mary goalie Connor Haran had 8 saves earning the win.
The Eagles fall to 0-3 on the season and will travel to take on another non-conference opponent Mitchell this Wednesday, March 13th at 1:00PM.
