Men's Lacrosse Season Preview

Husson University enters its first year as a Division III
Lacrosse Program in the spring of 2009. The team is led by its
inaugural head coach, Jeremy Mattoon, who arrived on campus
December 8, 2008. Husson Lacrosse will field a team of 25 players
from throughout New England. Some of the players have extensive
experience on the lacrosse field and others are fairly new to the
game.
The 2009 Attack will be led by Tri-captain, Ben Landry (Lewiston).
Coach Mattoon calls Ben the teams best all around stick
handler and an excellent on field leader. Ben
will be joined on attack by Anthony Diaz (Brunswick), a converted
midfielder and Sam Smith (Camden Hills).
At midfield, Nick Brown (Oak Hill) will be asked to take on a lot
of responsibility. Nick is a phenomenal athlete and could
play anywhere in the country says Mattoon, He will be a
tough matchup. Helping Nick at the midfield will be Cody
Wilson (Camden Hills), Chris Lloyd (Oxford Hills), Ryan Lapham
(Medway-Ma.), Zachary Williams (Maranacook), and Tri-captain Nate
Briggs (Freeport), who will serve as the teams LSM.
Tri-captain Travis Karpak (Middlebury-Vt.) will anchor the Eagles
defense and will be joined by Mike Labrie (Messalonskee), Ryan
Coleman (Lewiston), Brandon Galouch (Maranacookl), and Dustin Cole
(Gorham). Coach Mattoon calls his defense the best overall
unit on the team
In the goal, the Eagles will turn to Eric Falvey (Macchias) and
Matt Linnell (Lawrence). Eric and Matt are both extremely new
to the game of lacrosse, but Eric has extensive experience in ice
hockey as a goalie and he has a ton of confidence says
Mattoon, he also added Matt joined us a little late, but he
has a lot of natural ability and instinct in the cage.
The Husson Mens Lacrosse team will take the field for the
very first time on February 8th in a scrimmage against the
University of Maine.
