NCAA 1st Round Game to be Broadcast


 

The Eagles will travel to Worcester, MA and face WPI in the opening round of the NCAA III National Tournament.  The game will be played on Friday, March 6th at 6:00 pm on the WPI campus. 

The game will be broadcast on two radio stations.  WZON (620 AM) and WHSN (89.3 FM) will broadcast the games live and the broadcast will be available on the internet.  The links are http://zoneradio.com/wzon/am620wzon.html for WZON and http://www.whsn-fm.com/ for WHSN.

Husson is making their first appearance in the NCAA III National Tournament.  The Eagles are 16-11 and have won 6 out of their last seven games.  They earned the NAC AQ by defeating Thomas College 73-60 in the championship game.  Coach Caruso guided the program to six appearances to the NAIA National Tournament from 1994-2003. 

The Engineers, now 20-5 on the season following a semifinal loss to Springfield in the NEWMAC Tournament, will host three games in the NCAA Tournament at Harrington Auditorium beginning Friday evening at 6pm. The 2008-09 campaigh marks the sixth straight 20-win campaign for WPI, in addition to winning their sixth consecutive NEWMAC regular season title.

The other game will feature UMass Dartmouth (25-3), winners of the Little East Conference Tournament, and take on Baruch (23-5), who made the field via an at-large Pool C selection.  Tip-off is slated for 8pm. 

The winners will face off on Saturday at 7:00 pm for the right to move on to the sectionals.
