Husson vs UMF - First Place on the Line
The Eagles basketball programs go on the road today for a big North Atlantic Conference clash with U. Maine Farmington. At the mid-point of conference play, both games have first place riding on the outcome.
The men square off at 5:30 pm looking to avenge their only conference loss on the season. Two weeks ago U. Maine Farmington came to Newman Gym and cruised to an 82-70 win. The Eagles look for a win tonight and a two game lead over the Beavers in the NAC standing. Husson stands at 6-1 in conference play while U. Maine Farmington is 6-2. Husson is paced by Matt MacKenzie (Jr, Warren, ME) and Brock Bradford (Jr, Kenduskeag, ME). MacKenzie is leading the Eagles in scoring at 16.8 per game and over the last four games has averaged 22.5 points and 5.2 rebounds while shooting 67.9%. Bradford enters the game averaging 14.2 points and leading the team in assists with 4.6 per game and foul shooting at 90.6%. Husson has won four straight and 7 out of their last 8 games.
The women tip-off at 7:30 pm also looking to avenge their only conference loss on the season. The Eagles dropped a close game with the Beavers 76-70 as U. Maine Farmington hit a couple of 3’s late in the game for the win. Husson is now 6-1 in the NAC on the season while U. Maine Farmington is 7-1. The winner of tonight’s game will take over sole possession of first place. Shelby Bradford (Jr, Lee, ME) leads the Eagles with 17 points and 11.7 rebounds while shooting 50.5 % from the floor. Bree Hanscom (Fy, Mattawamkeag, ME) chips in 9.4 points and 5.7 rebounds a game. Husson is has won 7 out of their last 8 games including 4 straight.
