Farmington Cruises Past Husson


Bangor, Maine – U. Maine Farmington cruised to an 82-70 NAC victory over the host Husson University. Five Beavers scored in double figures lead by Pat Howell (Sr, Nobleboro, ME) with a game high 19 points and Andrew Dean (So, Gorham, ME) chipped in 17 points including 3-4 from behind the arch.

U. Maine Farmington built a 21 point lead in the first half on a 32-12 run, which stretched over 13 minutes. The half ended with the Beavers up 42-25. Josh Tanguay (Jr, Gorham, ME) paced UMF with 8 points and 10 rebounds in the first half, he finished the games with 10 points and a game high 17 rebounds. UMF received great bench play as DJ Gerrish (Fy, Rumford, ME) and Eric Taylor (So, Oakland, ME) added 9 points and 12 rebounds. Eric Lelansky (Jr, Portland, ME) added 10 points.

The Eagles never cut into the lead to single digits from the 14:08 mark of the first half. Husson was paced by Brock Bradford (Jr, Kenduskeag, ME) with 14 points and 3 assists. Matt MacKenzie (Jr, Warren, ME) had 12 points and 6 rebounds while Blaine Meehan (Sr, Winterport, ME) added 11 points and 5 rebounds.

U. Maine Farmington held a 54-36 rebounding advantage and shot 41% from the field, including 9-23 (39.1%) from the 3 point line. Husson shot just 31.5% and made just 5-22 (22.7%) from the arch. Husson forced 23 turnovers while only committing 12.

UMF evens their NAC record to 2-2 and 4-8 overall while Husson falls to 5-9 and 2-1 in the NAC.

Both teams next play on Friday, January 23rd. Husson host Green Mountain College at 8:00 pm while UMF travels to Johnson State at 7:30 pm.
