Field Hockey Wins NAC Championship With 2-0 Win Over U. Maine Farmington
FARMINGTON, Maine -- Fourth-seeded Husson University claimed the North Atlantic Conference Field Hockey Championship with a 2-0 win over third-seeded University of Maine at Farmington today at Prescott Field. With the win, the Eagles will enter the NCAA Tournament. Lorri Hiltz (So., Norridgewock, ME) was named most valuable player of the NAC Tournament.

Field Hockey Flies Into NAC Championship Game
STANDISH, ME Husson University Field Hockey upset St. Josephs in the North Atlantic Conference Semifinal match winning 2-1 on penalty strokes. With no time remaining in regulation play, Skye Ellis (Jr., Belfast, ME) scored a game-tying goal off a penalty corner propelling Husson into overtime. After two scoreless overtimes and one hundred minutes of play, Husson outscored St. Josephs on penalty strokes to advance to the NAC Championship. Husson will vie for the NAC title against University of Maine at Farmington on November 7.

Kristen Capen Named NAC Field Hockey Rookie of the Week
Kristen Capen (Fy., Leeds, ME) was North Atlantic Conference field hockey rookie of the week. Kristen Capen anchored the Eagles with goalkeeping saves in the Eagles NAC first round win against Lasell College and a win against Bates. Against Lasell, Capen tallied 5 saves off 13 shots. The first-year student shut down Lasell's best scoring opportunity late in the second half by coming off her line and smothering a Lasers break-away. Against Bates, Capen recorded 9 saves on 20 shots and helped her team earn a tight 2-1 victory. Capen and the Eagles will play at St. Joesph's in the NAC Semifinals on November 4.

Five Eagles Selected to 2009 NAC All Conference Field Hockey Team
Heading into their North Atlantic Conference Semifinal Game at St. Joseph's, Husson will have the strength of five NAC All Conference team members. Helen Berry (Jr., Belfast, ME) was selected to the NAC First Team All Conference. Courtney Allen (Jr., Gardiner, ME), Lorri Hiltz (So., Norridgewock, ME), Jenika Kelley (Sr., Livermore Falls, ME) and Jillian Morin (Jr., Manchester, ME) were all named to the NAC Second Team All Conference.

Husson Advances to NAC Semifinals With 4-1 Win Over Lasell
Bangor, ME - Husson University advanced to the NAC semifinal game with a 4-1 win over Lasell College. With the win, the Eagles improve to 7-7 and will travel to St. Josephs on November 4. Lasell ends their season with a record of 7-12.

Penalty Stroke Propels Eagles Past Bobcats 2-1
Bangor, Maine Husson University scored the game winning goal against Bates College on a penalty stoke with 1:55 remaining in the second half. With the win the Eagles improve to 6-7 and the Bobcats fall to 1-11. Husson returns to action on October 31 when they host Lasell College in the first round of the North Atlantic Conference Tournament. Game time is set for 3:30 PM at the Winkin Complex.

Eagles to Host NAC Tournament Oct. 31
Husson University will host the first round of the North Atlantic Conference Field Hockey Tournament on October 31. The fourth seeded Eagles will take on the Lasell College Lasers at Hussons Winkin Complex with a 3:30 game time. The Eagles will make their sixth consecutive NAC Tournament appearance and seek to maintain their momentum following a four game winning streak and a recent 2-1 win over Bates.

Newton, Mass. Jillian Morin (Manchester, ME) produced five points for Husson University en route to a 5-1 victory over the Lasell College field hockey team in North Atlantic Conference play today on Grellier Field. Both the Eagles and the Lasers are now even with a 3-3 league record.

Emily Woodbury (Jr., Burnham, ME) scored what proved to be the game winner in the first half of play. With the win, the Eagles improve to 2-5 ( 2-2) in conference play. The Thomas Terriers fall to 3-8, (1-2) in the conference.

Allen Named NAC Player of the Week
Husson Junior, Courtney Allen (Gardiner, ME), was named North Atlantic Conference player of the week. Allen paced the Eagles (1-1) with four goals on the week. Three of Allen's four goals came in a first half hat trick against Rivier College.

Constant offensive pressure led the Eagles to a 6-0 victory over the Raiders. Courtney Allen (Jr. Gardiner, ME) paced the Eagles with a first half hat trick. A dominant Husson did not allow a single Raiders shot in the game outshooting Rivier 33-0.

Tailgate With The Eagles
The Athletic Department and the Alumni Affairs Office at Husson University will kick off their fall athletic season with an Indoor Tailgate Party on Thursday, August 27, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The public and the media are invited to join the coaches, team captains, and the Eagles mascot at The Darling Atrium in the William H. Beardsley Meeting House for conversation and good food.
