Coach Nelson joined the Husson program in 2002 all as Defensive Coordinator. Nelson has a great background in coaching having coached at five different colleges and five different high schools over his long coaching career.
He has spent time at University of Maine, University of Rhode Island, The Citadel, Methodist College, and Nicholas College. While part of the staff at URI they team advanced to the I-AA National Semi-Finals. Coach Nelson has led his high school teams to four state championships, three with Orono High School (Maine) and one with Millis High School (Massachusetts).
Coach Nelson has a PHD from Florida State University and
received his BS and Masters degrees from the University of Maine.
He and his wife Ronnie have four children; Lorilyn Lucy, Kyle
Nelson, Randy Nelson, and Kelly Kraines. He and his wife reside in
Bucksport and Surfside Beach, South Carolina.
Coach Demaray arrived at Husson in 2009. He is the Offensive Line Coach and Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Eagles.
He spent 2008 at Maine Maritime Academy as the offensive line coach. Coach Demaray also served as the head of strength and conditioning for the football program and taught Physical Education classes. Prior to Maine Maritime Academy he played at U. Maine Orono.
At U. Maine Orono, Coach Demaray was a three year starter on the offensive line and was named All-Colonial Athletic Association in 2007. He received the Senior Achievement Award in 2007. Coach Demaray served as a Student Assistant at U. Maine Orono after his playing career.He worked one on one with the student athletes on the field and with film study.
Coach Demaray earned a Masters Degree in Exercise Science from the U. Maine Orono as well as a Bachelor of Science degree in Kinesiology and Physical Education. He graduated from Livermore Falls High School (Maine) in 2003.
Coach Whitney joined the Husson program in 2002. Coach Whitney has been with the Husson Football program from the start of the program.
Before Husson Coach Whitney spent 13 years with Mattanawcook Academy football program in Lincoln. Coach Whitney was an Assistant Coach for 8 years and the Head Football Coach for five years. During his time as the Head Coach at Mattanawcook Academy his teams made the playoffs all five years earning a trip to the Eastern Maine Championship game in 1998 and winning a State Championship in 1999.
Coach Whitney went to college at St Francis Xavier University in
Canada earning a BS degree in Physical Education and Psychology
while excelling on the football team. He is a full time employee
with the United States Postal Service and serves as the Post Master
in Lincoln, Maine. He and his wife Jan have two children Kati and
Laci. His daughter Kati was married this past August to Nick
Varney. Coach Whitney and his wife Jan reside in Lincoln, Maine.
Coach Marter joined the Husson program in 2002. Before that he assisted at John Bapst High School in Bangor. Coach Marter will coach the Defensive Line in 2008. This is his fourth season mentoring the Husson Defensive Line.
Coach Marter went to school at Columbia State University and
earned a BS in Heath Care Administration. He works full time as a
project manger for Dictaphone Corporation. He and his wife Missy
have two children Kirsten and Marrisa. Coach Marter and his family
reside in Millinocket, Maine.
Coach Polky joined the staff in 2007. He enters his second season as Outside Linebackers coach. He is currently finishing his Sociology degree at the University of Maine. Coach Polky plans to graduate in May.
After High School Coach Polky attended Bridgton Academy in North
Bridgton, ME where he played Football. Coach Polky was a starting
linebacker at Southern Connecticut State University for two years
before transferring to the University of Maine. Coach Polky grew up
in Fayette, Maine and attended Winthrop High School where he was a
standout player for Coach Norm Thombs. He is the son of Adrien and
Diane Polky. Coach Polky also has two brothers, David and Michael.
Coach Polky resides in Bangor.
Coach Rogers joined the coaching staff in 2008 after playing
four years of football with Husson. He will assist the Defensive
staff. Shane excelled at Defensive End for the Eagles and was a two
year captain. Shane is the career leader in sacks for Husson.
Shane grew up in Bridgeport, Connectiuct. Before attending Husson
Shane was an All-State Tight End and Defensive End at Warren
Harding High School in Bridgeport.
Coach Rogers is currently finishing his degree in Sports Management
from Husson University. He resides in Bangor.
