Four Eagles Named to ECFC All Conference Team
The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) announced its 2009 all-conference teams following a vote of the conference coaches. Julius Williams (Sr., Boston, MA) and Jon Benson (Sr., Biddeford, ME) were named to the First Team Offense. Bobby Gilbert (Sr., Beaver Cove, ME) was selected to the First Team Defense and Keenon Blindow (Sr., Morgan, VT) was selected to the Second Team Defense.

Husson Honors Seniors; Defeats Becker
Bangor, ME -- On a day in which Husson University honored it’s football seniors, one stood above the rest. Julius “Juice” Williams (Sr., Boston, MA) scored two touchdowns and amassed 250 yards on 16 carries. Williams' two touchdowns were Husson’s first two of the day, and the Eagles would not look back, defeating the Hawks of Becker College 74-22.

Mount Ida Outlasts Eagles 29-28
With Mount Ida College trailing by one point with 3:52 to go in the fourth quarter, Mustang sophomore running back Johrone Bunch (Meriden, CT/F.T. Maloney) punched in the winning two point conversion to give the Mustangs a 29-28 Eastern Collegiate Football Conference victory over visiting Husson University this Saturday on Halloween. The Eagles had a chance to win the game on a 21 yard field goal with 1:21 remaining in the contest, but missed wide right to preserve the win for the hosts. With the loss, the Eagles fall to 3-5, 2-3 in conference play.

Chris Dalecki Named ECFC Defensive Player of the Week
Chris Dalecki (So., Elliot, ME) was named Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) defensive player of the week. Dalecki contributed 7.5 tackles including three sacks in Husson's 35-20 win over Castleton. On the season, Dalecki has45.5 total tackles. Dalecki is a business management major.

Husson Handles Castleton 35-20
Castleton, VT – Husson University defeated Castleton State College 35-20 to in Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) action Saturday afternoon at Spartan Stadium. Husson amassed 339 rushing yards on 37 carries to improve to 3-4 overall and 2-2 in ECFC play. Castleton falls to 0-4 in conference play and 2-5 overall. Husson travels to Mount Ida next Saturday for a pivotal ECFC match-up at 1:00 pm. The Spartans will travel to Becker for a 12:00 pm ECFC kick-off with the Hawks.

Eagles Edged by Cadets
Bangor, Maine - Norwich University remained unbeaten in ECFC play with a thrilling 20-19 victory over Husson University. The Cadets defense stopped running back Julius Williams (Sr., Boston, MA) on a two point conversion to preserve the win. Norwich moves to 4-0 in the ECFC (4-3 overall) and Husson falls to 1-3 in the ECFC and 2-4 overall.

Springfield Powers Past Husson
Springfield, Mass. - Sophomore QB Josh Carter ran for 62 yards and two touchdowns and passed for 98 yards and one more TD in leading Springfield College football to a non-conference 39-14 victory over Husson University this afternoon at Amos Alonzo Stagg Field. With the win, Springfield is now 4-1 and Husson, meanwhile, falls to 2-3.

Late Score Gives Gallaudet 7-10 Win Over Husson
Washington, D.C. - With a 7-10 loss to Gallaudet, Husson falls to 2-2 on the season and 1-1 in Eastern Collegiate Football Conference play. Husson got on the scoreboard with a touchdown midway through the first quarter but was unable to score throughout the remainder of the game.

Eagles Win First ECFC Game
Bangor, Maine – The Husson University football team won their ECFC opener with a 35-26 win against SUNY Maritime. Jack Hersom (So., Sidney, ME) factored in three touchdowns, one on the ground and two throwing while the defense forced three key fumbles. Carlos Romero (Fy., Coral Springs, FL) set a school record having converted 13 extra points in a row.

Rookie place kicker, Carlos Romero (Coral Springs, FL), was named Eastern Collegiate Football Conference Rookie of the Week. Romero set a school record with a perfect 8-8 for point after touchdown (PAT).

Eagles Roll Past Anna Maria
The Husson University football team rolled past Anna Maria College 63-12 at the Winkin Complex in the Eagles home opener. The Eagles dominated Anna Maria College, a first year program, out gaining them 452 yards to 201 yards in total offense. Julius Williams (Sr., Boston, MA) scored two touchdowns and rushed for 119 yards on just 10 carries.

Husson Dropped In Season Opener
Husson University lost its opening game of the season on a very rainy day in North Andover to Division II Merrimack College Saturday afternoon. The Eagles lost both sophmore starting quarterback James McCandless (Hollywood Hills, FL) and junior running back Justin Lindie (Winslow, ME) to injuries in the first half.

The Husson University football team will kick-off their season Saturday, September 5 at Merrimack College. New Head Coach Niles Nelson has 10 starters returning on offense and 6 returning on defense as the Eagles prepare for their first season in the new Eastern Collegiate Football Conference.

The Husson University football team will hold their media day Tuesday, September 8 at 2:30. New Head Coach Niles Nelson and the Eagles will travel to Merrimack College Saturday, September 9 to open their 2009 season. Coach Nelson will be available from 2:30 pm - 3:00 pm while players will be available around 3:30 pm.

Tailgate With The Eagles
The Athletic Department and the Alumni Affairs Office at Husson University will kick off their fall athletic season with an “Indoor Tailgate Party” on Thursday, August 27, beginning at 5:30 p.m. The public and the media are invited to join the coaches, team captains, and the Eagles mascot at The Darling Atrium in the William H. Beardsley Meeting House for conversation and good food.

Coach Winkin Enjoys 90th Birthday at Winkin Complex
Coach John Winkin enjoys his 90th birthday at Husson University while watching the Zone 1 Legion Tournament being played on the Winkin Complex. Coach Winkin spoke with friends and fans while watching Steamboat Petroleum vs Trenton. Steamboat is coached by Bain Pollard who assisted Coach Winkin at Husson.

Nelson Named New Football Coach
Dr. Niles Nelson who has served for five years as Defensive Coordinator for the Husson Eagles Football Program has been named the new Head Coach effective immediately. Nelson replaces Gabby Price who stepped down two weeks ago after seven years on the job.
