Eagles Will Face USM in 1st Round


Bangor, Maine -  Husson University baseball team will enter the NCAA III New England Regional as the #7 seed and will face #2 seed U. Southern Maine on Wednesday, May 13 at 7:45 pm.  Eastern Connecticut State University will host the 8-team regional site. 

The Eagles finished the regular season with a program record 31 wins (31-12) and captured their first ever NAC title and trip to the NCAA.  Husson finished the season at 18-2 in their last 20 games.  Senior catcher Nick Arthers (Belfast, ME) was named NAC Player of the Year and first year outfielder Kyle Vanidestine (Bangor, ME) was named NAC Rookie of the Year. 

U. Southern Maine was ranked #1 in last week's d3baseball national poll.  The Huskies finished the regular season at 35-7 losing in the Little East Tournament to Keene State.  They defeated Husson 4-1 on April 8th at the Winkin Complex. 

Rounding out the New England bracket is #1 Eastern Conn State (35-6), #3 Trinity (29-5), #4 WPI (28-11), #5 Suffolk (30-9), #6 Westfield State (23-15), and #8 Babson (21-15).   

With a win, Husson will play at 7:45 pm on Thursday, May 14 against the winner of Trinity and Westfield State.  If the Eagles lose, they will play at 1:15 pm on Friday, May 14 against the loser of Trinity and Westfield State.
