Shelby Bradford Nominated by NAC for NCAA Woman of the Year
The North Atlantic Conference is pleased to announce Shelby Bradford of Husson University as its nominee for the NCAA Woman of Year. The NCAA Woman of the Year Award honors graduating student-athletes who have distinguished themselves throughout their collegiate careers in the areas of academic achievement, athletics excellence, service and leadership.

Mattoon Steps Down as Men’s Lacrosse Head Coach
After guiding the Husson University men’s lacrosse team for two years, Jeremy Mattoon has announced he will become the head coach at Hood College. Mattoon built Husson’s lacrosse program from the ground up, coaching the team since it began in 2008.

Four Eagles Named to NABC Honors Court
Four Husson University men's basketball players were honored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches Association (NABC) with selection to the Honors Court. Brock Bradford, Brad Libby, Matt MacKenzie, and Jay Uhrin were recognized for excelling in academics and athletics during the 2009-10 season.

Bradford Honored as Role Model by NCAA and Sporting Geography
Brock Bradford (Sr., Kenduskeag, ME) was selected by the NCAA to serve as Sporting Geography’s student-athlete role model for Division III basketball. As a student-ahtlete who excelled in the classroom and on the basketball court, and whom was engaged in community service throughout his four years at Husson, Bradford is the epitome of a scholar-athlete.

Kane Honored as Valedictorian
Joseph Kane was honored as the valedictorian for the class of 2010. Kane was a two sport athlete, playing on the men’s basketball team for four years and men’s soccer for one year. Graduating with a 3.981 GPA, Kane earned an undergraduate degree in accounting and a masters degree in business. During his time at Husson, Kane was an exceptional scholar athlete and leader for the Eagles.

Bradford Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team
Shelby Bradford (Sr., Lee, ME) has been named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District First Team for her academic and athletic prowess as a women’s lacrosse player. The award marks Bradford’s third Academic All-District honor in two years. As a three sport athlete and recent Husson graduate, Bradford is the epitome of a scholar-athlete.

Eagles Soar in 2009-10
During the 2009-10 athletic seasons, the Husson University Eagles won eight North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Championships and sent seven teams to the NCAA Tournament, achieving one of the winningest years in Husson's history. With the addition of women's cross country, Husson's thriving athletic department grew to sponsor fourteen varsity sports. Husson's student-athletes and coaches received numerous accolades including two ESPN Academic All-America selections, five NAC Player of the Year honors, two NAC Coach of the Year awards, NAC Team Sportsmanship honor, and the class of 2010 valedictorian.

Eagles Downed in ECAC Tournament
The Husson University Eagles lost a 20-5 ECAC semifinal game to Mount Holyoke at Plymouth State University. With the loss, the Eagles end their season with an 11-3-1 record and North Atlantic Conference East Division championship title.

Eagles No Match for Polar Bears
WELLESLEY, Mass. -- The Husson University Eagles ended their NCAA Regional Tournament run with a 14-2 loss to the Bowdoin College Polar Bears at Wellesley College. This season Husson claimed their second consecutive North Atlantic Conference championship and trip to the NCAA Regional Tournament. The Eagles end their season at 28-15.

Husson Downed by Easten Connecticut State in NCAA Regional
WELLESLEY, Mass. -- Eastern Connecticut State, seeded #1 in the NCAA Softball Regional at Wellesley College, used dominant pitching and timely hitting to down #8 Husson University, 8-0, in five innings Thursday morning in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Husson (28-14) will play in game #5 on Friday at 10am.

Sandini Stymies Husson
BROOKLINE, Mass. – The Husson University Eagles ended their season with a 5-0 loss to Wentworth Institute of Technology in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) tournament. Senior Chris Sandini (Upton, Mass.) hurled a complete game, two-hit shutout and fanned a school record-tying 15 batters for the Wentworth win in a game played at Northeastern University’s Friedman Diamond.

Eagles Miss NCAA Golf Tournament Cut
Hershey, PA - The Husson University Eagles wrapped up their NCAA Tournament competition at the Hershey Links golf course after missing the cut in today's second round. Husson finished the NCAA tournament with a team score of 647. With their fourth consecutive NCAA tournament appearance and North Atlantic Conference championship, the 2009-10 season was a successful one for the Eagles.

Eagles Play First Round In NCAA Tournament
Hershey, PA - Husson University men’s golf finished today’s NCAA Championship first round at the Hershey Country Club in 33rd place. The Eagles finished with a team score of 339 and look to improve in tomorrow’s second round. Tee time for tomorrow is set for 11:00 AM at the Hershey Links.

Eagles to Compete in ECAC Tournament
Husson University men’s baseball received a bid for the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) tournament and will compete against Wentworth on Wednesday, May 12. The sixth seed Eagles will travel to third seed Wentworth for a 3:30 game.

The Husson University softball team will travel to Wellesley, Massachusetts to compete in the NCAA Regional Tournament against Eastern Connecticut State University. As the eighth seed, Husson will compete against first seed Eastern Connecticut on Thursday, May 13 at 10:00 AM.

Eagles Earn ECAC Bid
The Husson University women’s lacrosse team will compete in the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) tournament on Saturday, May 15, against first seed Mount Holyoke College. The Eagles received the fourth seed and will travel to host Plymouth State for a 3:00 PM semifinal game.

The National Association of Collegiate Women Athletic Administrators has named Director of Sports Information JenFried as the 2010 Administrator of Tomorrow for NCAA Division III. The award is presented to individuals who aspire to careers in intercollegiate athletics and recognizes involvement and/or leadership roles on campus, conference offices and in the community.

Bangor, ME—Two Husson University men’s lacrosse student-athletes were honored with North Atlantic Conference (NAC) All-Conference Team selections today. Matt Tabler (Fy., Catonsville, MD) was named to the NAC All-Conference First Team while Ben Landry (So., Lewiston, ME) was named to the All-Conference Second Team.

Junior shortstop Ethan Guerette (Wales, ME) was honored as the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NAC) East Division Baseball Player of the Year in a vote by the division’s coaches. Also selected to the NAC East All-Conference team was pitcher, Ryan Arsenault (Jr., Portland, ME).

Landry Leads Nation in Scoring for Third Consecutive Week; Named NAC Player of the Week
Husson's Ben Landry remains the NCAA Division III men's lacrosse scoring leader for goals per game with 4.59. Landry was named the NAC player of the week, contributing six goals and six ground balls in Husson's 12-7 win over Johnson State. He leads the Eagles with 78 goals and 16 assists on the season.

Cassie Berry Named NAC Tournament MVP and Player of the Week
Cassie Berry led the Eagles to their second consecutive North Atlantic Conference Championship and was named the tournament's most valuable player. In five games, Berry hit .555, scored 7 runs, 7 rbi's, 2 doubles and 3 homeruns. Berry is currently hitting .331 and will lead the Eagles to the NCAA regional tournament.

Bradford Named North Atlantic Conference Lacrosse Player of the Week
Husson's Shelby Bradford scored 2 goals and one assist while collecting three goundballs in the Eagles 16-15 loss to Keuka College in the NAC championship. On the season, Bradford recorded 42 goals, 25 assists and 89 ground balls. Bradford is currently ranked second in the NCAA Division III in ground balls and fourth in draw controls.

Castleton, VT - Cody Haverly-Johndro (Newport, ME) knocked in the eventual game-winning run with an RBI single to right field propelling Husson University to the championship round of the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) East Division Tournament defeating Thomas College, 16-12, in 10 innings on Saturday evening.

Castleton, VT - Husson University lost to Castleton in the bottom of the eleventh inning when Ted Mills (Stockbridge, VT) knocked home the game-winning run to walk off with the North Eastern Athletic (NEAC) East Division Championship 6-5 on Sunday afternoon.

Castleton, VT - Ryan Arsenault (Portland, ME) pitched five scoreless innings yielding just two hits in game three of the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) East Division Tournament to lead Husson University over Lyndon St. College, 9-3, on Saturday morning. The Eagles improve to 22-19 overall on the season and play Thomas College at 4:00 p.m.

Husson Heads to Semifinals With Win Over Johnson State
The Husson University Eagles defeated Johnson State 11-7 in the first round of the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) men’s lacrosse tournament. Husson’s Ben Landry (So., Lewiston, ME) scored 6 goals in the win. With the loss, the Badgers end their season with a 4-8 record (4-6 NAC). Husson improves to 10-7 (7-2 NAC) and will face the winner of a contest between Castleton in the semifinals and Thomas on May 5.

Eagles Earn NAC Title; Sargent Hurls No Hitter
Bangor, ME - The Husson University Eagles claimed their second consecutive North Atlantic Conference (NAC) softball championship with a no-hitter by Nicole Sargent, defeating Maine Maritime 5-0. With the win, Eagles improve to 28-13 (14-0 NAC) while the Mariners fall to 22-7 (11-3 NAC). As the NAC champion, the Eagles will advance to the NCAA tournament.

Eagles Cruise to Championship Game
Husson University claimed a 7-3 win over Maine Maritime Academy to advance to the Championship round of the North Atlantic Conference tournament. With the win, the Eagles improve to 27-13 while the Mariners fall to 22-5. Maine Maritime will face U. Maine at Farmington on Saturday, May 1 at Husson's O'Keefe Field. The winner of that contest will play against Husson at 2:00 when Husson defends their 2009 NAC championship.

Eagles Soar by Terriers in Game 1 of NAC Softball Championship
Bangor, ME- The Husson University Eagles were able to take the first game of the NAC Women’s Softball Championship round against the Thomas College Terriers by a score of 8-1. Husson got on the board first with a barrage of runs in the bottom half of the second inning with an RBI single by catcher Sarah Risser (So., Brewer, ME). Following her with another RBI single was Dorothy Cameron (Jr., South Plainfield, NJ), and a double to left field by Lona Sargent (Fy., Sullivan ME).

Landry Remains NCAA’s Leading Goal Scorer
For the second consecutive week, Ben Landry (So., Lewiston, ME) has outscored all other Division III men’s lacrosse players, to lead the nation in goals per game. Landry is averaging 4.5 goals per game, amassing 72 goals on the season and Landry is also ranked second in the NCAA in points per game. The NCAA’s second leading scorer, Griffin Meehan, trails Landry by a staggering 24 goals. Landry will lead the Eagles when they host the North Atlantic Quarterfinals on Saturday, May 1 at Boucher Field. The Eagles will face Johnson State at 1:00.

Bangor, ME- Sophomore outfielder Dorothy Cameron (Jr., South Plainfield, NJ) of Husson University was selected as the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) Softball Player of the Year and Aimee Mortensen (Fy., Biddeford, ME) was selected as the NAC Rookie of the Year in a vote by the conference coaches.

Eagles Lead NCAA in Scoring Defense, Ground Balls
The Husson University women’s lacrosse team leads all NCAA Division III schools in scoring defense and ground balls for the second consecutive week. The Eagles are also ranked second in the NCAA in scoring margin. Senior Shelby Bradford (Lee, Maine) is the national leader among all Division III lacrosse players in ground balls followed by Caitlyn Butterfield (Jr., Gorham, ME) who is ranked fourth nationally.

Clement Named NAC Player of the Year; 5 Eagles Named to All-Conference Team
Bangor, ME- Husson University junior Megan Clement (Jr., Brunswick, ME) was named the North Atlantic Conference Player of the Year in a vote of the conference coaches. Clement led the Eagles scoring 23 goals with two assists in just five conference games helping Husson claim the NAC East Division championship.

Aimee Mortensen (Fy., Biddeford, ME) was named the North Atlantic Conference softball player of the week. Mortensen helped the Eagles to a 5-1 week by posting a .500 batting average (10 for 20). She scored 5 runs, had 9 RBI, 4 stolen bases, 3 doubles, and a homerun.

Shelby Bradford Named ECAC and NAC Player of the Week
Shelby Bradford (Sr., Lee, ME) has been named the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference New England Division player of the week as well as the North Atlantic Conference's (NAC) player of the week. She was honored as the most valuable player of the NAC East tournament and led the Eagles to their first NAC East Division title. Bradford tallied 13 goals, four assists, 32 groundballs, 23 draw controls, and nine caused turnovers in three wins.

KEENE, N.H. 4/27/10 – Keene State got a strong start from junior Kyle Davis (Rochester, N.H.) and two shutout innings of relief from junior Ed Lacourse (Manchester, N.H.) to post a 3-2 non-conference baseball victory over Husson University of Bangor, Maine on Wednesday. Keene State improves to 19-13-1 with the win while Husson drops to 21-18.

Husson Headed to Castleton for NEAC Championship
The Husson University Eagles will travel to Castleton to compete in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) East Division baseball tournament. With a 12-4 conference mark, Husson enters the tournament as the second seed for the three day, double-elimination tournament beginning Friday, April 30. Husson will face third seed Thomas at 3:30 on April 30 and is last year’s defending conference champion.

Sebago Lake, ME - Husson’s men’s golf team bested St. Josephs and the University of Southern Maine in match play at Point Sebago Golf Course. Husson’s Mike Hersey (So., Presque Isle, ME) earned medalist honors, shooting a 78. With the NCAA National Tournament fast approaching May 11-14, the Eagles are in peak form.

Husson Takes Two From Bates
LEWISTON, Maine -- Husson University swept a doubleheader from the Bates College softball team on Monday at Lafayette Street Field, taking Game 1 by a 4-2 score before blasting three home runs in a 13-2 win in Game 2. Husson moves to 25-13 on the season and will host the North Atlantic Conference Championship this weekend as the number one seed.

The Husson University Eagles will host the North Atlantic Conference softball championship on April 30-May 1. The top seeded Eagles recorded an undefeated 14-0 NAC record to earn the right to host for the second consecutive year.

Eagles Win NAC East Championship
The Husson University Eagles claimed their first North Atlantic Conference (NAC) East Division Championship with a 15-6 win over the University of Maine at Farmington. Shelby Bradford (Sr., Lee, ME) was named the tournament’s most valuable player, tallying nine goals and three assists in the championship. With the win the Eagles improve to 10-1-1 while the Beavers end their season at 4-7. The Eagles, ranked first in the NCAA in scoring defense and groundballs, will travel to Green Mountain College to compete against the NAC West Division champion on May 1.

Eagles Split with Spartans
Castleton, VT - Ryan Arsenault (Portland, ME) threw eight innings allowing just two runs (both earned) in game one and Ken Cook (Springfield, VT) slammed the door shut in game two tossing one-and-one-third innings of scoreless relief. The Spartans move to 26-12 overall on the season and 14-2 in the NEAC East. The Eagles move to 21-17 overall and 12-4 in NEAC East play.

Mustangs Defeat Eagles
Sunday, April 25, 2010 - (Newton Center, Massachusetts) - Behind a four goal performance from junior Matthew Savage (Peabody, MA/Peabody), the Mount Ida College men’s lacrosse team rounded out their regular season with a 17-3 victory over visiting Husson University Sunday afternoon on senior day to seal their perfect 9-0 regular season bid and the number one seed in the conference tournament with home field advantage starting May 1. The Mustangs improve to 10-6 overall and remain perfect at 9-0 while the third seeded Eagles fall to 9-7, 7-2 in league play.

Eagles Earn Win Over Hornets
LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Ben Landry netted 10 goals to lead Husson University to a 24-5 North Atlantic Conference victory over Lyndon Saturday in men’s lacrosse action. With the win, Husson improves their record to 9-6 overall and 7-1 within the NAC while Lyndon drops to 3-7 overall and to a 2-5 mark in the NAC.

Eagles Glide Past Terriers to NAC East Championship Game
Bangor, ME - Husson University defeated Thomas College 22-4 in the opening round of North Atlantic Conference East division semifinal action at Husson’s Boucher field to advance to the NAC East division championship. With the win, the Eagles improve to 10-1-1 while the Terriers end their season at 3-10. The Eagles will face the # 2 seed U. Maine at Farmington Beavers in the championship game on Sunday, April 25 at Husson’s Boucher Field. Game time is set for 1:00.

This weekend Husson’s baseball team will face Castleton with the regular season North Atlantic Conference title and right to host the championship on the line. Bangor, ME - The Husson University Eagles defeated the Thomas College Terriers 12-2 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) action. Game two of the doubleheader was canceled due to rain. With the win, the Eagles improve to a perfect 13-0 in the NAC and 13-10 overall.

Landry Leads NCAA in Scoring
Husson University – Husson’s Ben Landry (So., Lewiston, ME) leads all NCAA Division III men’s lacrosse players in goals scored per game with 4.29 and 60 overall. Landry’s prolific goal scoring places him 18 goals ahead of the Nation’s second leading scorer, Brad Levick of Elmira College. Landry is ranked fourth nationally in points per game with 5.29.

The Husson University Eagles are the Nation’s number one scoring defense and leader in ground balls per game for all NCAA Division III women’s lacrosse teams. GORHAM, Maine -- Freshman Shawn Smith (Winterport, Maine/Hampden Academy) had three hits and drove in four runs as Husson University pulled away in the late innings to defeat the University of Southern Maine, 12-1, Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference baseball at the USM Baseball Stadium.

BRUNSWICK, Maine - The Husson University baseball team rolled to their fourth straight win, a 7-2 decision against Bowdoin College in a non-conference game played at Pickard Field on Wednesday afternoon. The Eagles improve to 19-15 this season while the Polar Bears have lost three straight games and fall to 20-8 overall.

Ben Landry Named Male Athlete of the Week
Bangor, ME - Ben Landry (So., Lewiston, ME) was named the North Atlantic Conference's player of the week. Landry scored 25 goals and two assists this week to lead Husson to three victories. Landry paced Husson with 10 goals against Emerson, 7 goals against Thomas, and 8 against U. Maine Farmington. He leads the nation in scoring with 60 goals and 16 assists on the season.

Tyler Quinn Honored as NAC Rookie of the Week
Bangor, ME - Tyler Quinn (Fy., MacLean, VA) was named rookie of the week by the North Atlantic Conference for his goalkeeping last week. Quinn recorded three wins in goal for the Eagles, posting a shutout against U. Maine Farmington. The rookie tallied 10 saves in Husson’s victory over Thomas College and two saves against Emerson.

Husson Hungry for Shot at NCAA Division III National Championship
The Husson Unviersity men’s golf team is preparing for the NCAA Division III men’s golf championships to take place May 11-14 in Hershey, Pennsylvania. After enjoying a dominant fall that culminated in their fourth consecutive North Atlantic Conference golf championship, the Eagles earned the automatic qualifier for the NCAA championship. The student-athletes will compete at the Hershey Links and the Hershey Country Club. Per NCAA regulations, only five student-athletes can compete in the NCAA Championship. More than 2,000 different individuals visited the Bangor Area Homeless Shelter during this past year. Many of them were children. Spring break for the Husson University women’s soccer team was anything but ordinary. Shelby Bradford Named to NEWBA First Team All-Region
Shelby Bradford was selected to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) All-Region First Team. Bradford was selected as the NAC Player of the Year for the second straight season. She earned All-Conference First Team accolades after boosting the Eagles to the NAC Championship and a berth in the NCAA Tournament. The forward finished her career with 1,535 points and 953 rebounds. This winter, she averaged a double-double on 16.6 points and 11.6 boards per game.

MIT Surges Past Husson
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Five unanswered goals in the third quarter, including three in a span of two minutes, helped lift the MIT men’s lacrosse team to an 11-3 victory over Husson University in a non-conference game on Tuesday. Corey Garvey amassed a game-high seven points for the Engineers (2-1), as he finished with three goals and four assists. The Eagles fall to 0-4 following the inaugural meeting between both squads.

Richardson, TX - Husson University opened the softball season with a split against the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD). The Eagles fell to the Comets 3-2 in the opener and earned a 1-0 shutout victory in the second game to start their season at 1-1.

Bangor, ME - Husson University defeated Castleton 80-69 in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) championship to clinch their first ever NAC title. The Eagles ran the table in the conference, remaining unbeaten with a 14-0 regular season and two tournament wins. The rematch of last year’s NAC Championship game between Husson and Castleton ended with a different outcome as the Eagles emerged victorious this year, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. Brock Bradford (Sr., Kenduskeag, ME) was named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) player of the week. Bradford was also named to th MMBCWA (Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association) honor roll. Two weeks after returning from an ACL tear, Brock Bradford (Sr., Kenduskeag, ME) averaged 19 points per game while shooting 48% from the floor in Husson's wins over Green Mountain and Castleton. The senior guard was 10-21 from behind the three point line, knocking down a season-high six in a win over Green Mountain.

Jones Leads Nation in Single Game Rebounds
Josh Jones (So., Jefferson, ME) is currently 10th in the country in rebounding for Division III. Jones is averaging 11.4 rebounds per game and leads the Eagles with 15 points per game. On February 12th against Lyndon State, Jones pulled down 27 boards. Jones now leads the nation in rebounds in a single game this season.

Shelby Bradford (Sr., Lee, ME) was selected as the Maine Women's Basketball Coaches Association (MWBCA) player of the week for the fourth time this season and was also named to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) honor roll. Bradford continued her stellar senior season for the Eagles, helping them to a 3-0 week on the road. The senior forward averaged 19.3 points, 13 rebounds, 3.3 assists, and 2 steals. She also shot 56% (18-for-32) from the floor and 21-for-28 from the foul line. Bradford led the Eagles to a win over Maine Maritime after the Eagles had fell behind by 15 points in the first half.

Brianna Hanscom (So, F, Mattawamkeag, ME) was named to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) honor roll for her contributions on the court last week. Hanscom helped the Eagles extend their win streak to nine games with a pair of victories over NAC foes Thomas and U. Maine Farmington. The forward recorded 23.1 points, 9.0 rebonds and 3.5 assists per contest. After netting 18 points in a 86-70 triumph over the University of Maine Farmington on Tuesday, she exploded for 29 more in a 104-54 win over Thomas College on Saturday. Hanscom pulled down nine boards in both contests.

Eagles Lose Battle to Beavers
Bangor, ME – In a charged Newman Gymnasium, the Husson Eagles lost a hard fought battle to conference rivals University of Maine at Farmington (UMF) 60-65. Despite battling back from large deficits in both the first and second half, Husson could not come away with a victory and falls to 12-7 and 6-2 in the conference.

Eagles Remain Undefeated in NAC, Defeat Beavers 86-70
Bangor, ME – The Husson University women’s basketball team extended their undefeated 7-0 conference run with an 86-70 victory over University of Maine at Farmington. With the hard fought win against their conference rivals, the Eagles improve to 11-8 overall. The Beavers fall to 8-9 and 6-3 in the conference.

Josh Jones Named Male Athlete of the Week Named MMBCWA
Josh Jones (So., Jefferson, ME) was named the Maine Men's Basketball Coaches and Writers Association (MMBCWA) player of the week. Jones, a 6’5” junior forward, posted some huge numbers to help lead Husson to a 2-1 week. He averaged 20.3 points and 17.7 rebounds while posting three doubledoubles. He grabbed 20 rebounds in a loss to UNE, then registered 27 points, 17 boards and 24 points, 16 caroms in back-to-back league wins. For the week, he shot a sizzling 63.9 percent (23 of 36) from the field.

Bradford Named to NEWBA Honor Roll
Shelby Bradford (Sr., Lee, ME) was named to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) honor roll. Bradford led Husson University to a pair of NAC wins, collecting 22.0 points, 6.0 boards, 3.5 assists and 4.0 steals per game. She racked up 23 points, seven rebounds and seven steals in the Eagles 80-58 victory over Johnson State College on Friday. The forward then added 21 more points in her team's 112-83 triumph over Lyndon State College on Saturday. Husson is now 7-0 in league play.

Bangor, ME – The Husson University Eagles handled the Hornets of Lyndon State College with an 89-70 win. Husson’s Josh Jones (Jr., Jefferson, ME) paced the Eagles with a double-double consisting of 24 points and 16 rebounds. Eagles Ease By Hornets, Set New School Scoring Record
Bangor, ME – The Husson Eagles eased by the Lyndon State College Hornets 112-83. With the 112 point win, the Eagles set new school record for most points scored in a game (surpassing the 109 point record against Maine Machias). With the win, Husson remains undefeated 6-0 in North Atlantic Conference (NAC) play and improves to 10-8 overall. Lyndon state falls to 2-6 in the conference and 7-9 on the season.

Three Eagles Attend NCAA Leadership Conference
Husson University’s Kaitlyn McKay (So., Lincoln, RI), Roderic Johnson (Jr., Bloomfield, CT), Ryan Lapham (Jr., Medway, MA), and Coach Keith Bosley attended the NCAA Division III Student-Athlete Leadership Conference in New Jersey on January 22-24. The goal of the conference was for Husson’s student-athletes to enhance their personal development and leadership skills to positively affect the campus.

The Husson University football team placed six Eagles on the Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) All-Academic Team. The ECFC leading six All-Academic Team members include Keenon Blindow (Sr., Morgan, VT), Jack Hersom (So., Me), Mike Hersom (So., Sidney, ME), Tom Hersom (So., Sidney, ME), Kyle Vanedestine (So., Bangor, ME), and James Wood (So., Winslow, ME). To be honored, a student-athlete must have reached sophomore academic standing and have participated for a minimum of two years with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.50.

MacKenzie Named NAC Player of the Week
Matt MacKenzie (Sr., Wrren, ME) paced the Eagles this week averaging 19 points per game while shooting 71% (25-35) from the field in a 2-1 week. Against Green Mountain, MacKenzie recorded 26 points and 7 rebounds, shooting 11-16 from the floor. MacKenzie netted 16 points going 7-8 from the floor against Castleton. In Husson's loss to Maine Farmington, MacKenzie tallied 15 points and three rebounds, while shooting 7-11 from the floor.

Bradford Named NAC Player of the Week for the Second Consecutive Week
Shelby Bradford (Sr., Lee, ME) was named the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) player of the week for the second consecutive week and the third time this season. In three conference wins, Shelby Bradford recorded three double-doubles, averaging 19.3 points per game and 17.3 rebounds per game. Bradford tallied 20 points, 11 rebounds and 5 steals in Husson's win over Green Mountain. Against Castleton, Bradford netted 17 points, 19 rebounds, 4 steals, and 2 assists. In Husson's win against Maine Farmington, Bradford tallied 21 points and 22 rebounds.

Shelby Bradford Receives NAC and NEWBA Weekly Awards
Shelby Bradford (Sr., Lee, Maine) was honored as the North Atlantic Conference (NAC) player of the week and selected to the New England Women's Basketball Association (NEWBA) honor roll. Bradford had a monster week, recording 21.5 points, 13.0 rebounds, 5.5 assists and 3.6 steals per outing in a pair of wins. She tallied 22 points, nine boards, five assists and five steals in the Eagles 90-76 win at Thomas College on Saturday. Bradford followed that with 21 points, 17 rebounds, six assists, three steals and two blocked shots in a 71-62 victory over the Maine Maritime Academy on Friday. For the week, she knocked down 63.0% (17-27) of her shots from the floor.

First year student Marc Zaharchuk (Richmond, ME) had a breakout performance in Husson's win against University of Southern Maine. Shelby Bradford (Sr., Lee, ME) was named to the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) All-Region Team for the third consecutive year. In her three years playing soccer at Husson, Bradford set three career school records. Bradford holds the record for career goals at 64, career assists at 37 and career points at 165.

Husson University men’s basketball will host the 42nd annual Paul Bunyan Tournament on December 4-5 in Newman Gymnasium. Student Athlete Advisory Committee Holds Food Drive
Husson University's Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) held a food drive and collected over 500 food items for Mana Kitchens. Husson University finished second to the University of New England in women’s swimming. Erin Doucette finished first in 200 yard IM with time of 2:27.9 and swam the first leg of the 200 yard freestyle relay team that came in first place with a 1:55.37 time against The University of New England. The Husson University men’s basketball program is gearing up for the 2009-10 season. The 2009 NAC Champions are slated to finish first in the NAC Preseason Poll with a solid line-up returning. The Eagles return their top three scorers from a year ago but only 6 players from last year’s championship team. Husson begins their season on the road when they play Gordon College on November 18 at 7:00 PM.

Husson Downed By Williams in NCAA Tournament
TROY, N.Y. – Husson University fell to the sixth-ranked Williams College 3-0 in the NCAA Tournament this afternoon at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). Williams scored three second-half goals to claim the win and will play RPI tomorrow. Husson ends their season 10-9-2 and earned their first NAC tournament championship and NCAA tournament appearance.

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Husson University lost to Middlebury in an NCAA Regional match-up. Middlebury scored three goals in a span of 3:44 in the first half on its way to a 6-0 win over Husson. The Panthers will play Wheaton in the regional final on Sunday. Husson ends its season with a 15-6 mark, claiming their fourth straight NAC conference championship and trip to the NCAA tournament.

Four Eagles Named to ECFC All Conference Team
The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) announced its 2009 all-conference teams following a vote of the conference coaches. Julius Williams (Sr., Boston, MA) and Jon Benson (Sr., Biddeford, ME) were named to the First Team Offense. Bobby Gilbert (Sr., Beaver Cove, ME) was selected to the First Team Defense and Keenon Blindow (Sr., Morgan, VT) was selected to the Second Team Defense.

Husson University was selected as the men's basketball preseason favorite of the North Atlantic Conference in a vote conducted by the league's coaches. Bangor, ME -- On a day in which Husson University honored it’s football seniors, one stood above the rest. Julius “Juice” Williams (Sr., Boston, MA) scored two touchdowns and amassed 250 yards on 16 carries. Field Hockey Flies Into NAC Championship Game
STANDISH, ME – Husson University Field Hockey upset St. Joseph’s in the North Atlantic Conference Semifinal match winning 2-1 on penalty strokes. With no time remaining in regulation play, Skye Ellis (Jr., Belfast, ME) scored a game-tying goal off a penalty corner propelling Husson into overtime. After two scoreless overtimes and one hundred minutes of play, Husson outscored St. Joseph’s on penalty strokes to advance to the NAC Championship. Husson will vie for the NAC title against University of Maine at Farmington on November 7.

Kristen Capen Named NAC Field Hockey Rookie of the Week
Kristen Capen (Fy., Leeds, ME) was North Atlantic Conference field hockey rookie of the week. Kristen Capen anchored the Eagles with goalkeeping saves in the Eagles NAC first round win against Lasell College and a win against Bates. Against Lasell, Capen tallied 5 saves off 13 shots. The first-year student shut down Lasell's best scoring opportunity late in the second half by coming off her line and smothering a Lasers break-away. Against Bates, Capen recorded 9 saves on 20 shots and helped her team earn a tight 2-1 victory. Capen and the Eagles will play at St. Joesph's in the NAC Semifinals on November 4.

Edwin Acosta Named NAC Men's Soccer Player of the Week
Edwin Acosta (So., Honduras) factored into both of Husson's goals in their 2-0 NAC Semifinal win over Maine Maritime. Acosta scored the game's first goal off a penalty kick that hit the center-left portion of the Mariners' goal. Acosta also provided an assist on Husson's second and final goal of the day by slotting a ball to an open forward.

Megan Clement (Jr., Brunswick, ME) was named North Atlantic Conference women's soccer player of the week. Clement scored two of Husson's three goals in their 3-0 NAC Semifinal win over Maine Maritime. Clement scored the game's first goal at point blank range off of a rebound in the box and collected her second goal of the day with a well placed strike from thirty yards out.

With Mount Ida College trailing by one point with 3:52 to go in the fourth quarter, Mustang sophomore running back Johrone Bunch (Meriden, CT/F.T. Maloney) punched in the winning two point conversion to give the Mustangs a 29-28 Eastern Collegiate Football Conference victory over visiting Husson University this Saturday on Halloween. The Eagles had a chance to win the game on a 21 yard field goal with 1:21 remaining in the contest, but missed wide right to preserve the win for the hosts. With the loss, the Eagles fall to 3-5, 2-3 in conference play.

Husson University fell to Worchester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) and won against Eastern Nazerene. The Eagles lost to WPI in three straight games (25-11, 25-19, and 25-16). The Engineers offense was led by Kim Woodward (Clifton Park, NY) recording nine aces and two kills, while Belinda Nwagbara (Santa Rosa, CA) combined four aces with eight kills. The Engineers would combine for a total of 26 kills and 29 aces, as the Eagles finished with 13 kills and 2 aces.

Estabrook Named to All New England Team
Ben Estabrook, (Sr., Bangor, ME) was named to the All New England Intercollegiate Golf Association (NEIGA) team. Estabrook shot rounds of 75 and 78 at the Captain's Golf Course in Brewster, MA, to secure a spot on the All New England Team. Husson finished third in Division III at the NEIGA and Estabrook shot a team best 153 for the tournament. Estabrook, a Business Management major, will play in the NCAA Division III Golf National Championship in spring of 2010.

Golf Finishes Third at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Championship
Brewster, MA - Husson University Men’s Golf finished third in Division III at the New England Intercollegiate Golf Championship (NEIGA) with a score of 627. Salem State finished first in Division III scoring 609 and was closely followed by Trinity College with 610. The Eagles are the 2009 North Atlantic Conference Champions for the fourth straight year and will compete in the NCAA National Tournament this spring. Husson won eight straight tournaments this season and finished the fall winning eight of nine tournaments.

Mason Smith (Fy., Houma, LA) was named North Atlantic Conference rookie of the week. Smith started his first two complete games in goal for the Eagles this weekend allowing one goal on nine shots. Eagles in the Community
For Women’s Soccer, the month of October has been one of classes, practices, games and service to the community. The Eagles hosted the Special Olympics of Maine Soccer Tournament on October 14 and wore pink to raise awareness for breast cancer this past homecoming weekend. For Head Coach Keith Bosley, the Eagles service activities provide a “way to link the sport we love with social responsibility” and exemplify the mission of Husson Athletics.
