Husson Falls To Gordon 61-59

Men's Basketball Poised For Season Opener

The Husson University men’s basketball program is gearing up for the 2009-10 season. The 2009 NAC Champions are slated to finish first in the NAC Preseason Poll with a solid line-up returning. The Eagles return their top three scorers from a year ago but only 6 players from last year’s championship team. Women's Basketball Gears Up for Season

Husson University Women’s Basketball prepares for the 2009-10 season with a strong squad of new and returning players. The Eagles are slated to finish first in the North Atlantic Conference (NAC). Husson returns all four starters from a squad which finished 13-1 in conference play a season ago and captured the 2009 Regular Season NAC Title. Husson will be led by 2009 NAC Player of the Year Shelby Bradford (Sr., Lee, ME) and 2009 NAC Rookie of the Year Bree Hansom (So., Matawamkeag, ME). Husson Downed By Williams in NCAA Tournament

TROY, N.Y. – Husson University fell to the sixth-ranked Williams College 3-0 in the NCAA Tournament this afternoon at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI). Williams scored three second-half goals to claim the win and will play RPI tomorrow. Husson ends their season 10-9-2 and earned their first NAC tournament championship and NCAA tournament appearance. Husson Falls to Middlebury in NCAA Tournament

MIDDLEBURY, Vt. – Husson University lost to Middlebury in an NCAA Regional match-up. Middlebury scored three goals in a span of 3:44 in the first half on its way to a 6-0 win over Husson. The Panthers will play Wheaton in the regional final on Sunday. Husson ends its season with a 15-6 mark, claiming their fourth straight NAC conference championship and trip to the NCAA tournament. Four Eagles Named to ECFC All Conference Team

The Eastern Collegiate Football Conference (ECFC) announced its 2009 all-conference teams following a vote of the conference coaches. Julius Williams (Sr., Boston, MA) and Jon Benson (Sr., Biddeford, ME) were named to the First Team Offense. Bobby Gilbert (Sr., Beaver Cove, ME) was selected to the First Team Defense and Keenon Blindow (Sr., Morgan, VT) was selected to the Second Team Defense. [READ MORE]

Husson Men's Basketball Selected to Finish First in North Atlantic Conference

Husson University was selected as the men's basketball preseason favorite of the North Atlantic Conference in a vote conducted by the league's coaches. The Eagles were a unanimous choice for the top spot receiving all eight first place votes and a total of 64 points in the NAC men's basketball preseason poll. Husson returns six players including the all-conference senior tandem of Brock Bradford and Matt MacKenzie from a squad which went 11-3 in conference play and won their first NAC Championship. Husson Women's Basketball Picked to Finish First in North Atlantic Conference

Husson University was the unanimous choice of the league's coaches as the North Atlantic Conference women's basketball preseason favorite. The Eagles, led by head coach Kissy Walker, received all eight first place votes and 64 points in the NAC women's basketball preseason poll. Husson returns all four starters from a squad which finished 13-1 in conference play a season ago. Kristen Capen Named Female Athlete of the Week


Kristen Capen earned a shut-out in Husson's 2-0 NAC Championship win over U. Maine at Farmington. Capen was a key factor in Husson's 2-1 semifinal victory over St. Joseph's. Husson's Kristen Capen made a series of brilliant saves throughout the game. With three minutes remaining in the final overtime period, Capen shut down a point-blank shot to keep the Eagles' hopes alive. Capen made 12 saves on 19 shots in match play, and tallied two pressure-packed penalty stroke saves to help Husson to victory.

Julius Williams Named Male Athlete of the Week


Julius “Juice” Williams scored two touchdowns and amassed 250 yards on 16 carries. Williams' two touchdowns were Husson’s first two of the day in Husson's win over Becker. Saturday, Williams became the only player in school history to break the 1,000 yard mark in more than one season and over the fall has become the schools all-time leading rusher with over 3,500 yards. Williams amassed 1080 on 157 carries averaging 6.6 yards per carry.
