Student Athletic Advisory Committee Constitution Article I. Purpose The S.A.A.C was created at Husson for the purpose of:
Article II. Membership The membership of the student-athlete advisory committee is comprised of representatives from each sport and a department representative. Each member serves as a liaison between the committee and their respective sports team. Each member must be eligible both athletically and academically to maintain membership on the board. Membership is a responsibility. Dedication and participation are relevant to maintaining membership. Each individual on the board carries one vote. Section 1- Each individual sport will require two members. One
person is to be of upper class rank, (Sr/Jr), and one person is to
be of the under-class rank, (So/Fr). Section 3- At the beginning of each fall semester, coaches will re-submit names of athletes to serve on the board. If you are a returning member, and so choose to serve another term, tell your coach that you wish to do so. Article III. Officers The officers of the organization shall be Chairperson, Vice-Chairperson, Secretary and Treasurer. Section 1- The officers will be voted in during the first meeting of each academic session. Section 2- To be eligible for an officer position, a member of
the board must nominate you for that position, and another person
must second that nomination. A vote will then be taken to determine
who will hold each position. Article IV. Meetings Section 1- The SAAC will meet at various times throughout the semester. A minimum of three meetings per semester are to be held. The SAAC will determine the date, time and place at their previous meeting. Section 2- All members are to be present at each meeting of the SAAC unless they have a legitimate excuse, and that excused absence is recognized by the Chairperson of the Board. Any unexcused absences will result in the loss of the persons vote for one meeting. Section 3- Two unexcused absences will result in dismissal from the board. A new representative will be sought to replace that person. Section 4- Each sport must be represented at each meeting. Article V. Amendments Any amendments to the constitution must be approved by a two-thirds majority vote. Amendment proposals are voted on only if two-thirds of the committee are present, and each sport is properly represented. Amendment proposals should be submitted to the officers in advance in order to assure a two-thirds attendance for voting. Article VI. Non-Discriminatory Statement This board will not discriminate based upon race, sex, age, ethnicity, religion, personal preferences or sport. Article VII. Department Advisor to the Board A department advisor(s) will be assigned to the SAAC. The advisor(s) will assist in the flow and direction of the SAAB. The Chairperson of the Board is in direct contact with the advisor, who is then in direct contact with the Director of Athletics. Article VIII. Grounds for Dismissal Section 1- Any member of the SAAC will be dismissed if it is deemed by the majority of the board or the Director of Athletics, that the member in question is conducting himself/herself in an inappropriate manner. Some grounds for dismissal may include, but are not limited to the following:
Section 2- Officers may be impeached by the board with a two-thirds majority vote. Voting on impeachment will take place after a member of the board has called for impeachment, and that motion is seconded by another member. A two-thirds majority vote will be required for impeachment. All members votes are required for an impeachment vote. Section 3- A member of the SAAC may appeal the ruling of board to the Athletic Director within one week of any ruling. A meeting must be set up between the department advisor, the chairperson, the athletic director and the party involved regarding any appeal. An appeal to the athletic director may only be made once. Article IX. Duties of the Officers Section 1- Chairperson
Section 2- Vice-Chairperson
Section 3- Secretary
Section 4- Treasurer
The SAAC is to form and maintain subcommittees during each term. A minimum of three subcommittees are to be formed and headed by members of the board. The subcommittees report to the Vice-chairperson. Article XI. Role of the Athletic Director The athletic director will have the final say in any matter regarding the SAAC. The athletic director will be in contact with the department advisor. The department advisor and the chairperson of the board shall set up a meeting with the athletic director regarding issues that require immediate attention.
