SPIRIT Pep Band/Cheerleading Husson University Cheerleading is a coed program developed to enhance school spirit on campus. The team consists of student-athletes with many different talent levels who come together to share their love for the sport. The team cheers on the sidelines for the Husson teams as well as special events. |
| Coach Buffie McCue started the program in 2003 after cheering at the University of Maine. Starting with a squad of 8, there are now more than 20 student-athletes involved in the program. The team has participated in events with Make-A-Wish, the Boys and Girls Club, and Race 4 the Cure. |
|
| In 2008, the cheering squad traveled to New York City to compete in the Northeast Championship Coed Division and finished in second place. If you would like more information regarding the cheering program, you can contact Coach McCue at hccheercoach03@yahoo.com or by phone at 207-659-4989. |
The Screeching Eagles Pep Band
The Screeching Eagles Pep Band was founded in 2008, led by faculty director Cliff Guthrie. The band is composed of musicians that include students, alumni, staff, faculty, and members of the Bangor community. With the goal of supporting the Eagles and representing Husson University, the band hopes to play in Bangor parades and other public events. The Screeching Eagles are always in search of new members who could play any instrument from trumpet to cowbell. Husson students can elect to receive academic credit for being a member of the band. Check out the Husson Pep Band group on Facebook and contact the faculty director, Cliff Guthrie, at guthriec@husson.edu or call 941-7760 for more information.
